Congratulations for Roger Lee winning the championship and Josh Herrin notching his first win. I havn't seen a 17 year old run like that since
Nicky.
Seeing a tear welling up when he thanked his dad was a great moment.
A few observations and critiques on the race.

-These red flags in AMA are getting ridiculous. They took 25 minutes to restart and then had to delay another 10 because they missed gravel on the track. Wasn't there a corner worker that should have seen it.

-Best wishes to Josh Hayes who had a great year and went down really hard twice this weekend. Hope he's allright.

-Hacking's quip calling Herrin Rossi was funny but his booting of him and his lame excuse was a cop out. 2 weeks ago he ran Tommy Hayden off the track when Spies ran them both wide was unavoidable and he proceeded after the race to give a 30 second apology to Tommy.
Today he said" Rossi ran a little bit wide and came back on me and we just happened to hit" ........ Jamie own up. He would have cost Herrin the race if it wern't for the red flag. No respect for the youngins I guess.

-Cardenas move into the corkscrew was Guintoliesque. I watched him line that up all the while screaming noooooooooooooooooo!
He could have really hurt someone and screwed up the championship.

-Announcers never giving the current point situation till the last few laps was unexcusable.

-Cutting away from Roger Lee's Parade lap to interview his crew chief could have been done in audio only. I would much rather see the rider comraderie than his mug.

I'm with you on all counts. Todays race was a big mess, but except for Hayes everything went down alright.

I'm not big on governing bodies stepping in to hand out punishments but Cardenas needs at least a mean spirited letter from the AMA
<

Trying to bite 2 Kawasakis (Rapp and Hayden: for those who missed the race) going into the corkscrew was preposterous. Not only was the move unsuccessful but it cause Rap and Hayden to go off into the dust bin, and there was a smack up right behind the three of them.

I love hard racing, but when you forget to calculate for the confines of the track and you start offroading to get your face in the papers, you need at least a slap on the wrist.

Good on Roger tho. Somehow he went down pretty hard in the Superbike race. I hope he and Hayes are OK.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention the sandbag and the sign laying in the middle of the track.
That could have been ugly

The 2nd delay was not because they missed something but was some privateer that came out late from the pits and crashed going out on the warmup lap. He slid gravel all over the track hahahaha. Gotta love those privateers

Congrats to one of the top Americans in racing. Josh will be in MotoGP soon. See him in three years, when Rossi calls it a quits.

Hayden hat trick! Amazing.

I agree with everything that was said above. I'd like to add that Cardenas is a ....... ...... You guys were much to kind on his Pedrosa Portugal 06 style move. Had it not been for the grace of God and the professionalism of the AMA regulars, it could have been a disaster. He could have totally ...... up the championship because hes a dumb ... piece of .....

Great for Josh. Good kid. We will be seeing more of him.

I hope Cardenas goes back to whatever rat hole he crawed out of back in that .... hole of a place he's from.

. Cardenas brings talent and an international flavor to AMA racing; we should be glad that we have him.

Racing is a crazy sport; crazy mistakes are bound to be made.

I agree that what Cardenas did was pretty dangerous. That said, it was at least in part caused by the fact that Rapp wouldn't pass Hayden, and was holding everyone up. I could understand this if they were teammates, but they just ride the same brand of bike. Is Attack Kawasaki that in debt to Kawasaki that its riders can't pass? You think Hayden would have hesitated to pass Rapp if the situation were reversed? I don't.
Now, all THAT said, Cardenas should have looked for a different spot; when you screw up at the corkscrew, you can screw up really big.

On the issue of Hacking, he has simply demonstrated once again what a snake he is. Last year he made a similar move on a kid who had been given the chance of his lifetime on a wildcard ride, and crashed him out of the race. If that weren't bad enough, he then blamed it on the kid (can't remember who it was). What a jerk! I think he's bitter that he's 36 and got his first superbike ride just this year.

well i agree with what all have said here... with a couple of minor exceptions. 1st hacking is an ..... plain & simple. 2nd i think cardenas's move was a bit hairball & had me screamin at the tv but his move really was'nt any more bold then spies pass on mladin in the corkscrew now was it? cardenas just ...... it up.

Your right Shupe. I was much too harsh. Never post when you've just got into a fight with your girlfriend.

As far as the move by Spies, yes it was a hard pass but they were both trying to win a championship, not just a race.

Yes, I agree. I'm glad some other people see it. Hacking's quips calling Herin "Rossi" were not intended as funny but rather condescending. What an ungracious thing to say by the guy who has taken people out. Hacking may be a good racer and aggressive but he's also a jerk. In the pre-race interview he sounded like Mladin every time they asked him about the championship, making it sound like he wasn't interested in the title. What ......... He was pissed at Herin for taking the win and effectively shutting him out of the title. Herin deserved an apology but rather he got an insolent quip that was aimed to belittle his accomplishment, but I think it backfired because it is Hacking that looks like the immature pompous ... on this one.

Basically, he screwed up.

I think it was Danny Eslick. He had been given a chance to ride the Yoshimura GSX-R 600 in Supersport (I guess Spies had decided to forgo the SS race since he wasn't in line for a good points finish and he had to wrap up the SBK title that weekend too). Eslick crashed on the first turn, right after the start.

What Cardenas did was way different.Mladin and the lapper were side by side and the lapper did as he should,he stayed out of the action and when Spies passed Mladin on the inside it was basically like passing one bike.Cardenas tried to take 2 bikes that were running nose to tale at the same time heading into the screw and that just isnt a possibility unless they are back markers. When 3 guys are battling for a title and its the last race of the year, its kind of understood that you dont go out and decide the title when your not part of it.Sometimes that competiton gene will make you do stupid stuff, and thats true in any sport.

What do all of you think about Rapp being told not to pass Hayden? Yeah they both ride Kawasakis, but they're not teammates. I think his having to just follow Hayden contributed to the incident in the corkscrew.

On a sidenote, I must say as a Canadian I was gutted for Chris Peris when (apparently) May caused a crash right after the Cardenas incident. He was doing so well!

Let's suppose Kawasaki USA doesn't tell Rapp not to make any moves on Hayden.

If you're Attack Kawisaki what do you do? They were lucky enough to be in a situation where a Kawi was going to take the title no matter what, but do they really want to risk pissing off the company that feeds them by allowing Rapp to mix it up with Hacking or Hayden?

I don't think the orders Rapp was given contributed to the corkscrew incident at all unless Cardenas is incapable of passing one guy at a time.

That move made me think about Estoril in 2006.

Another young Latin Don Quixote charging the windmill in a quest for unattainable personal glory. No offense to people from latin countries, but lets be realistic, the quest for machissmo may as well be one of Newton's Laws.

Different strokes for different folks, but it would be nice if they could keep it upright and on the track.

We don't know this for sure, we are speculating. It didn't look like Rapp had the pace to pass anyway.

As far as Cardenas. I just watched the race again last night. I gotta say, Cardenas is stupid to have tried that suicidal move. He should have been black flagged immediately!!! The moron was a menace to himself and more importantly to the other riders and the championship. He caused Rapp to go into the gravel and almost clipped Hayden, which would have been a disaster. This was a close championship with many turns and twists all year. Championship opportunities are few and far between and this total ignoramus could have ...... it up. He could have caused the championship to have been decided on a bonehead move. Put yourself in Hayden’s shoes for a moment. ...., good think I wasn’t there, I would have lobbed a boot at Cardenas at podium ceremony. And I would have done my time in jail with a smile for it.

Sorry Mr. Shupe, but watching it again, I think his move was unforgivable. Rapp had nothing to do with this. Cardenas is a complete and utter moron. I hope he goes back to wherever .... hole he came from. We don't need ....... like him in the AMA.

You are much too kind. Cardenas is a worthless piece of ..... Watching his move again last night made me want to toss my TV on the ....... guy's head. The AMA race direction are a bunch of ......., they should have black-flagged his .... Did you notice that Roger Lee tried to stay completely away form him the rest of the race, and only when it was safe passed the guy in front of him (near the end of the race). This gifted Cardenas an undeserved podium (how’s that for a miscarriage of justice). Not only should they have black-flagged this Neanderthal, but also they should stripped that podium finish and gave it to the 4th place finisher.

You are much too kind. Please man, he is beyond stupid and simply caught up in the moment. Of all the places to try that move he tried it where it was impossible. Race direction seeing he was not in a normal state of mind should have black flagged him and brought him in for a psychiatric evaluation.

The only thing Rapp passed all year was DuHamel and Zemke after they ran out of gas at Daytona.
Isn't this a contract year with Attack and Kawi.
I think I read a few months back that Attack was not yet decided on what they will run next year. That could have had some bearing on their team orders.
