I am not pulling for Eslick, but I will say he earned his title last year. I thought racing the Buell vs the 600cc bikes was silly......but that was the rules and all teams agreed to it. It looked to me like the Buell gave Eslick an advantage and really upped his racing (he did not have a previous season anywhere close to his 2009 Buell ride). I will admit he has done well on the 600 this season (winning races, getting podiums, finishing top 5, having poles, leading/having fastest laps...which he did not do until he had the Buell), and if he does win the title it will help take away the stigma that he had to have the Buell to win.

I don't know know what it was with the 2009 season but the Buell gave him something (advantage, the confidence to win, the taste of winning) but it transformed him into a front runner. Also, it proves nothing with other Buell riders not winning or finishing high in the points.....look at Rossi and Colin Edwards on the FIAT Yamaha bikes (and Eslick is no Rossi even at the DSB level)

If you credit the Buell with making him a winner, then you have to credit the Suzuki with making him a cruising caretaker. His results fluctuated a lot in 2009 b/c it was impossible to determine whether the track layout would give the Buell an advantage or a disadvantage. The only absolute advantage of the bike, imo, was the torque. It was like a magic eraser for any and all mistakes. As long as he was in the neighborhood of the optimal line he could maintain front-running pace. If you can ride a wide variety of lines without losing time, you can pass more easily, and it gives you an x-factor late in the race when riders take bigger risks to make a pass.

Yeah, right. Suzuki would be crazy to let him go to Yamaha. He's running at the front on a Celtic bike and he's only 17 years old.

yeah your right..... just like they'd be crazy to let ben spies go... or roger decoster go or spend at least as much $ as that other small factory in motogp to make somewere near a competitive machine.... yeah they'd be crazy!

Ben said goodbye to American Suzuki. Denning and Suzuki Japan were the ......... who decided Spies was not good enough for MotoGP. That's how the Flamminis were able to scoop him up, and put him on a factory Yamaha. Spies needed help finding a ride for 2009, and at the time no one was keen to sign him b/c they thought American riders were no good.

Im defenitely not defending Herrin because I think he's a bit bonsai at times but like I said these guys seem to be ok with racing each other so agressively so If they're not going to ..... about it than I certainly won't.

Once again I have to try to talk some sense into all you Bosppers. The very reason I do not watch Superbike this year is because it is a stagnant pool of overaged midpack riders. I really have no interest in watching a bunch of guys who couldn't even get a look at the podium 2 years ago suddenly be in contention for a championship. The Bostroms are poster boys for underachievement. The factories have repeatedly shunned young talent to put these two quitting losers on a SBK( see Mladins OTT interview where he calls B Boz out for quitting every week).

I really don't understand how so many of you find any redeeming quality from these two ON THE RACETRACK. They are bad for the future of the AMA. The sport needs an injection of youth and fresh faces.

I can only think that most of you forgot how great it was watching a young Nicky Hayden barnstorm his way into the sbk class when he was just a 19-20 year old kid

Right. The Bostrom brothers are the sole reason the AMA has been garbage the past few yrs.

As usual, I didn't have time to watch the races on the weekend, finally finished up watching last night. NJ was awesome. I said this earlier this year, the AMA has been the best racing to watch all year and the races in NJ were excellent.

Eslick, I like the guy. I picked him as my favorite for the championship early in the season. Granted, I was no fan of the Buell and I do feel his championship last year was a bit "tainted", I still want to see him prove the haters wrong by winning this year on equal machinery. Right now the championship is still tight, anything could happen. We are likely to see it come down to the last race.

Eslicks pass on Herrin. I think it was a little harsh, and would like to have seen him be a bit more apologetic at the post race, however as previously stated, these guys have all pulled the same thing on each other. Danny is cool enough that when Herrin pays it back to him I'm sure he will just say "well that's racing".

Sellar having to sit out. Lame on the AMA to do this. DSB is full of missile activity like Sellar's. Are they going to police everyone in the same way?

Aquino's crash. Scared the hell out of me, because it looked very similar to Tomizawa's crash, slipping off the bike and onto the racing line. Luckily he went off track and didn't hit the wall very hard. Lucky guy.

SBK had some great racing. Tommy tried his heart out to take the wins, but bad luck in race 1 and a well determined Josh Hayes in race 2 put a stop to that. The title is still up for grabs in both classes, and will most likely not be determined until the final races, pretty cool imho.

Hopper finally makes it to the podium, but no post race interview on Speed.

I distinctly remember a pre-race segment where they asked the top DSB riders who they prefer to race near, they all said Eslick. (I might have it recorded). Yes, Herrin even said, I don't personally like him but he races hard but safe. Cardenas had the same answer and so did two other riders (can't remember their names). If somebody here watches the races as religiously as I do, you guys should remember this segment.

Yep I remember this as well, I believe it was during the pre-race build up for Daytona. And you are right, most of the guys picked Eslick as the guy they liked racing against.
