ALEX HOFMANN REPLACES THE INJURED RIDER SETE GIBERNAU,
IN THE TEAM PRAMAC D'ANTIN MOTOGP ARRIVES IVAN SILVA

For the eighth round of the 2006 MotoGP World Championship that in Assen, Holland, this weekend, ALEX HOFMANN, PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP rider, will replace SETE GIBERNAU on the Official DUCATI. The Spanish rider injured himself during the frightening accident of last Sunday in Spain and his return will depend on how fast his recover will be. As a replacement for ALEX HOFMANN, there will be the Spanish IVAN SILVA, already racing for the Team of LUIS D’ANTIN in the EXTREME category of the Spanish Championship, that also did a race of the 2006 World Championship in the Superstock 1000 class.

A big opportunity for ALEX HOFMANN, that will have a great occasion to race with the Official DUCATI (BRIDGESTONE tyres), but also for IVAN SILVA that will ride on the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat.” for the first time in the World Championship, assisted by the technical staff of the Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>ALEX HOFMANN: "I’m excited and so happy! Having the possibility to race on the Official DUCATI DESOMOSEDICI is an unbelievable opportunity and I will give my 100% to take advantage of it the most I can. I know this motorcycle well, I also know the evolution level of the BRIDGESTONE tyres that I developed until the Valencia GP of the 2005 Championship, with which I had a good feeling that I hope to get back from the first laps I will make in Assen. I’m very motivated and I want to make something good. In our world, these kind of agreement doesn’t happen very often and I want to thank everybody: DUCATI, PRAMAC, LUIS D’ANTIN and PAOLO CAMPINOTI, for thier confidence, that I hope to reciprocate giving the maximum. I also have a special thought for SETE GIBERNAU to whom I wish to get well at the soonest and in the best way possible ".

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>IVAN SILVA: "I didn’t expect it and it has really been a great surprise! Having the opportunity to make a race with the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat.” of the Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP is simply fantastic. Besides, I already know the Team very well, racing in the Extreme category of the Spanish Championship with them, and I’m really happy to get the chance to make this experience with them. I would like to thank everybody for having given me this opportunity, and I hope not to disappoint anybody!".

Not saying that the Kwaker was a dog, but if Hofmeister wants to prove that he belongs on competitive machinery, now is the time.

Good to hear that...Hope Hoffman proves himselfs...he has a big chance at assen so he'd better not miss it!

Hofmann has to really go for it this race and maybe the next if Gibernau is not ready for it, this may show his true colours on a bike.

Has this ever happend before? A rider in 500GP/MotoGP fill in from one team to another in one season.
I hope that Alex dose well and his sponsors (DUCATI, DUNLOP) realize they need to put more $ into him and his team.

The Kaw was and still is underpowered.....hopefully he doesn't dump the GP06 in the gravel trap trying to prove himself on the factory ride.....

Assen looks set to rain, dosen`t it? Rain is where underpowered bikes do well, because the RCVs cant go flat out like usual. Come on Nakars! Hoffmann might do well, but sub riders don`t have a great history of shaking things up. Advantage is, he has experience on both the tyres and the bike, disadvantage is, he dosen`t have experience using both at the same time.

You're right....I think the FP1 will be a tell tale sign for him. I hope it doesn't rain....Assen is so much more fun to watch in the dry.....

I would love to see the Hopp on the boxes.....he's doing just fine in the dry though....and he's arguably on less than perfect equipment....imagine him on a Ducati?

Obviously he couldn`t imagine that

but if he did go, who would be on his bike at Suzuki now? Would they have kept KRJR? Or would it be someone else? After Chris signed up Denning said they had a list of GP riders they wanted, but who was on it? Gibernau? If Hopkins got his Ducati ride, there wouldn`t be many more places for him to go.

i reckon the suzuki pair are probably the best Denning could've hoped for ... i know im bias coz of Vermeulen but as a team chris and john do pretty well considering their competition.

Does tell you something about Hopper though....even riding that toilet bucket -a-bolts....he somehow manages to get it up the grid each race.....

Hoffman does have a good opportunity on a bike that is performing strongly at every track this season, he knows what a GP6 feels like. He will set himself a goal (obviously not necessarily a podium but good strong finishes are whats needed not heroism) he will have the equipment underneath him to make it happen.

He is a good rider however the Pramac D'Antin GP6 just hasn't had pace this season. Any conspiracy theorist believe there may be an 800cc engine in that bike . . . . .

That brings up a good point Aussie....anyone know how or if the bikes are inspected prior to race...I'd imagine if they are like any other racing group, the bikes must pass a review to make sure its within regulations....
Otherwise I suspect you'd see a Ducati pulling out with the sound of a turbo...hahaha

I have to disagree, I think Assen is one of those tracks where the wetter it gets, the cooler it is.

I feel like I remember reading that KRJR's faith laid in the hands of Hopper, if he left then KRJR would retain his seat but otherwise he was out.

I hear you....I guess it does level the playing field a little by taking away the power advantage of a lot of bikes....its a personal thing for me....I love the Assen track...dry with these guys flat out, not having to be careful.....

Don't get me wrong, Assen is a tremendous circuit at all times, wet or dry. I just feel there's something special or classical about rain at Assen.
