I don't want to see Rossi go anywhere. I thought it was crazy for him to even think of racing F1, it's so boring IMO. Even though I am a Hayden fan, Rossi gets nothing but props from me. I just hope that next year the 800's are as exciting to watch as the 990's.

Very good interview, Rossi was very gracious in his defeat and that is a good thing to see.

Agreed. Very good interview. But I would have to disagree with him on this, he said: “Hayden wouldn’t have won, because the Ducatis and Bridgestones were stronger.” I doubt it, Hayden was poised to take the race when he was sliding out.

But other than that, Rossi is a class act.

Errrrrr...Rossi is a class act coz he's won more titles than anyone else! The Nicky would have beaten the Ducatis if he had to brigade are no more accurate than the Rossi would have won if he stayed on brigade. Rossi crashed, and took the pressure off Nicky. (on the day) Bayliss won, Nicky did enough (which it has to be said he is very good at, ooooh controversial, dont want to upset folks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but it was enough on the day for the title, I'm a long time Rossi fan and I cant argue with that. But, the scary thing for his rivals is, the last multiple 500 champs, Doohan and Rainey, lost their tiles coz they were invalided out of the sport, Rossi has lost his on a year of breakdowns, bad luck, and crashes, if Yamaha can get the 800 on the pace, (and lets remember the big H are good at developing new bikes, and influencing rule changes) then there is plenty more from the Doctor! Rossi was very gracious in defeat, A sign of a great sportsman and long may it continue. I think the points standings at the moment for Rossi are reminisent of bad luck at the start of the year, and I definately think he would have walked it again, hadn't it have been for some mishaps and bad luck.

Now I could elaborate and expand for pages, but I think in this case, I will allow someone else to express it.

But I would like to add, if you review the video of the race, Hayden was the fastest man on the track just before Rossi crashed out. You can see this by the little red indicator next to the rider’s name. Moreover, at the moment that Rossi pressed too hard and crashed out, you can see that Hayden was positioned (poised/on the brink) of overtaking Bayliss. This to me indicates that he would have taken the lead and won the race had he needed to; however, simultaneously, due to Rossi’s crash, this was no longer a necessary risk. Furthermore, this was indicated to him by his pit board (who for all intents and purposes, represent his team). So, what I witnessed, is Hayden in complete control of his situation, and he did what a champion would do in this case, he proceeded to win the championship. That is a title, shared not only by Nicky as an individual, but by a plethora of others who have banked on the effort, as well as hopes, to be a world title holder. This is why racers, and other team sports, speak in the third person and use “we” to refer to themselves. But by no uncertain terms, Hayden was poised to win the race.

Others, on different threads have addressed this question, and perhaps more eloquently (as you see Mr. Shupe’s quote above), but if you are interested, you can read some of the other comments on the other threads regarding why Nicky had control to win but chose rather to win the championship.

(Perhaps this question deserves a new thread topic, in respect to the person who started this thread, I'm not trying to change the subject, but, I was asked.)
