who knows, even if it were coincidence he would most likely say it was planned. as they say in darts "even flukes count". Thing is i believe lorenzo is a genius, i also believe he is the only genius since Rossi. He has the full package . Love him or loath him. he is the next rossi.

99 came from a fan pole either on his web site, or MARCA (Spanish sports mag.) If I remember correctly, the other number choices were 23,99, and his original 48. There may have been another number in the mix. I doubt it's mind games. Mind games don't really work if they are so subtle that no one gets them...

In fact, Lorenzo wanted to ditch the 48 and then personally chose 99 and 23 as his two options, then let the fans decide from those. I would guess both of those numbers must mean something to him.

If I had revealed the source, it would have affected the poll. My name doesn't affect the poll. The information I pass on is always completely objective
The poll is irrelevant b/c Lorenzo selected the number for the poll. Both numbers could have been for mind games, and the fans don't put the number on the bike so it just could have been part of the pageantry.
The guy dresses up as a space man from time to time, don't you think he could use a fan poll for theater?
That was my point, he chose those numbers so they could easily both have meaning to him.
I'm currently reading his biography (that ive had since it came out but never got round to actually reading..) and its says the 99 will be explained. If its reasoning is interesting i'll post it up, if not then.. well.. i wont.. but i dont believe Lorenzo plays mind games. I used to detest him but since he moved up to the big class and reigned in his big ego (to a certain degree) somehow, over time, he slowly won me over. He has a strong desire to be liked, especially by his fans so i dont think he's (very) subtly manipulating anybody with it. Plus, he doesnt need to, he's taken on the Doctor (the biggest manipulator of them all), and seemingly won.

well ive never heard that one before.
its allegedly some sort of psychoanalysis rather than a biography as such. otherwise, as you say, there wouldnt be much to write.. i guess we'll see.
