I loved Hockenheim, fast circuit with a lot of right turns until they put in the two hairpins at the end of the lap, Paul Ricard was another favourite.  What I remember most about Hockenheim was bad weather, the fog/mist and rain that used to hover because of the trees, made some treacherous races.  this race is in good weather though...

great riders, bikes and a proper track.

its such a shame hockenheim will never be the same great track it was

Thanks, Ska.

Loved watching them bump start off the grid for the warm-up lap.

Only 89 and seems like aeons ago....

Enjoyed reliving the old school lack of a million cameras. The almost continuous close-ups we get now, while perfectly tracked and pin-sharp, don't do as good a job of conveying the speed of the things.

Didn't enjoy being reminded of the crappy run-off and hay-baled armco.

Ciggy logos are there...but starting to be covered up.

As said above yes, I hadn't realized that with all the super close ups now from TV you really do lose some sense of speed! How interesting.   I miss the old onboard shots the most.  Just one cam, stuck in the windscreen looking at and out over the tachometer.  You really got to see the lines being used and where they were sticking it in.  Now we get that ridiculous behind the riders bum view, which is cool to see the gymnastics they are doing hanging off, but after awhile, it is just a shot of their rear end!

Anybody have a full copy of the Hockenheim 91 race?  Featuring "The Pass".  To this day my favourite moment in motorcycle racing in any class or calibre.   That whole race was epic.
