32 Entries In World Superbikes

Wow, more than twice as many entries in WSBK, and 5 of which are good Brits. And in a related note (all roads seem to lead to MotoGP vs WSBK): What does this British invasion mean for MotoGP in an indirect sense? For some time now, The Brits, having a lack of their countryman in MotoGP ranks, have embraced Rossi as one of their own. But here we have a series where the Brits will definitely be in contention in all the races, and I dare say, even a title hopeful. (I've mentioned before, though I'll be rooting for Spies, the Brits looked most poised to take a title provided in the very likely event that Haga finds a way to throw it away, yet again).

So then, will the popularity of MotoGP dwindle even more in light of the massive showing of Brits in WSBK?

I am not a brit nor do I know who carries the fans with them, I am guessing that Toseland sits pretty high up there??

Haga should win. But he has to learn a new bike, and it is a Ducati, and we all know that only one person can ride a Ducati. Yeah that's Bayliss errr I mean Stoner...oh yeah different series

But GO SPIES

As someone who doesn't get to follow BSB too closely, maybe some of you Ingerlanders can help me out. Will Haslam do much on the Stiggy Honda? I've always been a bit a fan of his, just wondering if he'll do much. I'd like to see him join Rea near the front.

Haslam will run well, but I think the Stiggy Honda thing won't be up to the job to be a consistent competitor.

Johnny Rea, in my view, will be the leading British and Honda rider.

Why?

Besides Sterilgada Ducati, satellite teams in superbike are rarely competative if at all. Also Haslam is a solid rider, but never appears exceptional. I like Leon but my expectation are that he and Tommy Hill will be the tail end of the British representation.

Thanks, Migs. That's what I was thinking but didn't want to shoot off my mouth too soon. Haven't they been running BSB as well with mediocre results? Or am I confusing Stiggy with Stobart? Now I'm confused.

That pretty much sums it up....

Who knows, I maybe very wrong on this one, and I would love to be proven wrong by Leon....but I just can't see him really doing it.....
Granted he does have previous WSBK experience from 2004, so maybe LH will surprise me.

'Or am I confusing Stiggy with Stobart?'

Stiggy ran a WSS team in and will do again in 2009.
Stobart ran in the BSB team.

+1

He's always looked pretty good, but not really spectacular. Though he really impressed me at Potimao last year - especially in race 2. He also looked amazing when he won in the wet at Brands a few years back as a wilcard, and the time he beat Karl Harris at Croft was one of the best rides I've ever seen from anyone in BSB.

... which became the Vent Axia WSB team, and now the official WSB Kwak team for 2009.
