Finally we will be able to put the topic title to bed.
If Toseland and Lorenzo are on the same bikes aswell as rubbers then we truly are going to see who is best suited to MotoGP.
World Superbike champ Vs 250 champ. WOW !
My money is on Toseland !

who will have a better season? lorenzo, no question. of course, when toseland doesn't do anything, it'll be because lorenzo has a factory machine and toseland's bike is crap.

Gotta be Lorenzo even if I'd much prefer to see Toseland get the better of it. First of all Lorenzo has ridden all these circuits - Toseland has a number of them to learn next year. Second, I think Lorenzo will handle the pressure better - it's gonna be hard for Toseland coping with so many aspects of motoGP in his first season.

erm, lorenzo on the fiat yam and toseland on the tech 3, BIG difference !!

yea i agree with the last two posts. jorge knows all the tracks compared to JT. and even though JT is supposed to have a full factory bike, rossi and lorenzo will get preferential treatment and new parts first, JT may not even get them. for example, last year James Ellison had to struggle all year with the chassis that rossi couldnt ride, whereas every othe yamaha rider got the new spec that rossi asked for.

Yes your right roger ! you obviously know in detail the deal both of these boys have got ?
No, didnt think so.

I heard JT has landed a wicked ride, I also heard Rossi does not want lorenzo as a team mate.

Maybe i wrong

no i dont no the deal details and neither do you but what i do no is yamaha are not known to give much support to the other yams , i thought everybody who watches motogp could see that the fiat yam and the tech 3 are worlds apart, i once heard around 50-60 bhp apart but that was on the 990, cant see the 800's being any closer

Rog, I think with the 800's its about 20/30hp, and the Dunlop's make up the difference

how can you compare... toseland... 26???? lorenzo 20-21 I cant remember... hes got like 5-6 years to be better than him

At least we'll have a battle for rookie of the year with a few stepping up. Lorenzo has the track knowledge so I can't see JT getting on the same pace while learning the tracks.

At the crossover tracks it will be much more even, I just hope they run the same tyres otherwise we'll have to read about that for 8 pages!

Rookie of the Year - Jorge Lorenzo

Rookie of the year Alex De Angelis, but Lorenzo will beat JT and the spec of their Yamahas will not affect that result as long ans noone rides Dunlops.

Lorenzo in the first year.

Aww c'mon...do you expect a guy who's never ridden a GP bike 'properly' and never been to over half the tracks to beat a guy who's been doing it for 3-4 years?

Year 2 would be a better indication, dependent of machinery.

Lorenzo will NOT be Rossi's team mate, that's for sure. He'll be Toseland's team mate, both of them on factory Tech 3's. No more junky bikes and crap tyre experiments for Tech 3. Yamaha can and will run four factory bikes because they don't have the financial restrictions that Ducati, Kawasaki and Suzuki do, and they also don't have the burden of five teams to supply like Honda.

Oh I almost forgot, Lorenzo will smoke Toseland next season and every season thereafter too.

hmmm interesting.....I wil take Toseland. After watching him in a few of the SBK races this year and last, I think he can perform well in the GP environment. At least you know he will give you everything the bike has.....maybe even a bit more. How well will Lorenzo adapt to the power? Sure he knows the tracks, but there is more to it than that. It obviously didn't work for the US riders at Laguna.....maybe with the exception of RLH.....I think it will be a good battle for rookie of the year next year.

It has to be Lorenzo, but thats not to say Toseland wont be impressive.. Its simply a matter of adapting and learning and Lorenzo has the advantage of being familiar with the paddock, tracks, etc etc..

However, it will be interesting none the less and I expect JT to be much stronger in his second year (it is a two year contract yes?) .. 2008 promises to be another good one! Fingers crossed..

The general consensus seems to be that they will be close, the proof will only be in the puddin`
