The big news this year, if you haven't been following is that Michael Dunlop is joining Hickman, Cooper and the Truelove brothers. Dunlop is riding a Panigale V2. Cooper will probably be the one to watch. He showed well last year.

Bradley Smith is also making his Daytona debut in the King of the Baggers class. Loris Baz is also making his debut in the class.

The American storyline is the same as it has been over the last several years. Paasch, Eslick and Herrin are trying to add to their win total to catch Russel and Duhamel.

Watched it all day. Was impressed with the bagger riders attitude to their Dunlops shedding chunks of rubber on the banking with no complaints and no loss of speed! We’ll change the tyre and go again tomorrow it’s the same for all of us was Kyle Wymans only response. How refreshing! Surprised and pleased by Bradley Smiths performance on his 1st ever ride for HD with a deserved podium. Maybe he’s found his home? Where was the crowd? How does it make money?

Never been to Daytona to watch motorcycles, but I've heard the bikes hide behind the wall when they are high on the banking. They are also too small to watch from the stands when the bikes are on the far side of the track. The fans sit in the infield so they can see the bikes better on the banking.

The Dayton infield is 180 acres (73 hectares) and it holds 30,000 people comfortably. Not sure of the attendance at the 200, but if the infield is full that's a pretty good crowd for a MotoAmerica race.

Hopefully the race will regain its international prestige. With the demise of European/Irish road racing, Daytona offers a unique opportunity for international racers, and it's an interesting format, mixing endurance racing rules with World Supersport machines.

Have only been round the track as a passenger in a Richard Petty nascar race experience car whilst on holiday. I guess we were only going 120-130 mph but the wall was about a foot from the side of the car and the overwhelming impression was how steep the banking is. My neck was aching from keep tilting my head to account for the angle of the banking ( don’t think it’s the done thing but it seemed to make sense to me at the time lol)
Have watched the racing again today and never realised what a unique track it is with everything hinging on draughting on the banking. Every race ends like a Moto 3 race!
Still haven’t seen any crowd,it only shows a few riders family folks at the podium celebrations.
