first of all im glad that ppl starting to move on from sepang, not forgetting it but just moving on,

this is just My opinion of the whole championship and id be glad to hear other perspective, after all this is motogp forume.

the thing ive been hearing a lot is that this is rossie's luckiest season, he is not the fastest, he got to the 1st position by capitalizing on other riders mistakes etc...**

first thing is word FASTEST, this depends on so so many different factors that really can not be judged by the fastet FP,Q1 or Q2 or even fastest lap time on the race. imo this word has been so advertised by lorenzo that ppl start to actually believe there is such a thing as the fastest( it might have been the right word in previous years). but being fastest is not that black and white, these 4 or maybe 5 rider (still not confident enough about Iannone) can carry the same amount of pace during race and are equally fast.

now to the main point, i think this season has come to this part and to this drama, because of valentino rossi fundamental mistake during the first half of the season which was treating the FP and Qualifying session the same as the race. (dunno really but maybe it was part of his ego that told him i can catch em during the race no matter what),even thogh that tactic might have help him sometimes(Argentina comes to mind) but if you look at it, almost(dont remember each one tbh) every race that lorenzo won, rossi was not even in victory contention and mostly because of his grid position, you just cant catch someone who is as fast as you when he has 2 - 3 s advantage. otherwise the consistency of the pace during the race was USUALLY there. he came to realize how important that Q2 session is a bit too late imo, cuz as you all know, as the tournament progress, the antes and the blinds go higher, now its so much harder to win the race even if youre on pole which usually is not the case in the first half of the season.

** rossi might've capitalize on other ppl mistakes, but those mistake happened in the RACE, his biggest problem(and his team also) was that ppl took advantage of his mistakes outside the RACE. he is in this mess because of his own mistakes which is kinda odd since a lot ppl consider him to be one of the smartest riders out there.

thanks for reading.

Pff, Rossi is not the fastest rider. He is leading because others made silly mistakes ... like Lorenzo falling out when he is second whilr trying to chase Marquez that is half a lap ahead of him. Complete stupidity from Lorenzo. And also because RD gives Rossi some special help now and then.

The aim is not to set blazing lap times, then to crash. Rather, the aim is to finish the race in the shortest amount of time. By that measure, Rossi and Lorenzo are very closely matched in terms of 'speed'.

There are no points awarded for qualifying or free practice, as that's not the aim.

agreed, look at Ryan Dungey in AMA MX and SX, rarely has the fastest lap in qualifying, doesn't win all that often (he's winning more now though) but he's got 5 championships in the 450 class. Tomac that "set the world on fire" speed but crashes and hurts himself. So people call Dungey lucky. Its not luck, its racing for the championship. You get the same amount of points whether you win the race by a second or a minute.

I have absolutely no problem with Rossi winning the title by being better over the whole season, including wet races, and Jorge's error at Misano was his own as he himself acknowledged.

Being better over the whole season does involve for me him racing all 18 races under the same conditions however, with no special rules, newly devised unwritten ones or otherwise for the last 3 or 4 races.

EXACTLY

This "Getting lucky" craze is pretty lame. Yes, silly mistakes can have a substantial impact. The champion usually has the least.

P.S. Hello fellow MX/SX fan. Although, Dungey isn't always the fastest qualifier (sometimes he is) , he is almost always top three and only a couple tenths off the other two. Fitness and consistency are his strong points. He consistently runs that third fastest qualifying pace while the others make mistakes and lose a second here and a second there.

Sorry for the MX rant everyone.

Are you for real? A World Champion is all rounder. If you keep making mistake than you don't deserve to be World Champion. This title come with many factor. Speed, Tactic, Reliability, Team Work, etc. All this play apart. Mistake are just professional excuse for lamer like you.

You try go take a degree exam and keep making mistake and failed. You forever failure. Try make comment Oh ! I am qualify to be a Doctor and could have save many life. I just make mistake only.

Welcome to the real world brother.
