Season starts in one week. This is one of the most anticipated seasons in recent memory. Can't wait. I'm going to go against the grain and predict
1 Dovi
2 Vinales
3 Lorenzo
4 Marquez
5 Rossi
6 Pedrosa
7 Crutchlow
8 Ianoone

Yes, pretty excited about it starting up again.

I too initially thought of Dovi as the race winner. I really think it could be any you picked in your top 4.

I'd love it to be Lorenzo. Just shut a lot of folks up right from the start.

Personally cheering for a Yamaha 1-2 finish. Though I'm hoping for the Doctor to bag this one, the test times seem to suggest that it'd go the way of the Top Gun namesake.

Some fun predictions here. They should have like a Fantasy MotoGP league. Where we get points based on our guesses.

1) Maverick
2) Rossi
3) Lorenzo
4) Marquez
5) Dovizioso
6) Pedrosa
7) Crutchlow
8) Iannone
9) Folger
10) Petrucci

1. Lorenzo
2. Rossi
3. Dovi
4. Marquez
5. Maverick

The championship contenders will fall over themselves in their haste to assert dominance.

But, if either Marquez or Maverick upset my prediction and win, then my next prediction is that rider will end up 2017 champion.

Me too !

I'm curious if these are race predictions or just hopes? JLo in the top three? Yall are crazy he will probably be the third ducati.

Marquez
Maverick
Dovi
Rossi
Ionnone

I'm kind of impressed by how many people are thinking Lorenzo will either be in striking distance of, or on the podium. Any reason some of you guys are thinking that?

I'm not arguing against his talent he hasn't clicked with the duc yet o I don't know why first race would be the place. If bird is right I will fly down to China just to give him a high five but that is an insane top 5 bro.

1. Marquez
2. Crashy
3. Rossi
4. Dovi
5. Folger

Very little basis for above and I am loathe to put crashy in there but maybe this year he'll ditch the nickname rather than the bike.

Lorenzo - in an ideal world, he'd be top 3 but that's a big ask and I think it will take him the best part of this season to get to grips with the bike in race situations.

I think we could just as accurately pull the names out of a hat. Every race weekend, I sit down and know that ANYTHING can happen. Even more so for the 1st race of the season.

Whatever happens, c'mon next weekend already!

What, is Assen style rain predicted for Qatar or something? Lorenzo won't even try to win, ride some parade laps win he?

Why on Earth or even China for that matter would you discount Lorenzo winning on one of his favourite tracks which also happens to be one of Ducatis all time best tracks? Lorenzo is a faster rider than Dov in my humble opinion. .... he even beat Stoner on the best bike on the grid Honda once.

I'm most interested in seeing what Rins and Iannone do...and more particularly Rins. I have no prediction on him for where he will finish...assuming he finishes the grand prix. I think Rins was a bad signing personally, but we shall see.

Dovi has out tested JLo every round and was in the top three almost every test. So whether Jlo is a faster rider or not is all based of his time on another bike. So at this moment Dovi is a far faster rider than JLo and has experience with this machine. I am aware ducati like this track that why I put Dovi in the top 3. JLo to win though?

1. Mav
2. Marky
3. Dovi
4. Rossi
5. Pedro
6. Crashy
7. Jorge
8. Iannone (DNF trying to win championship in first race)

First and foremost, Rims job is to beat his teammate. I dont think that's possible. Judging fm testing Iannone will toss him like a salad.
I predict Maverick will win the shirtless beach volleyball game but the short guy with all the talent will get the girl.
Ducati won't do ..... The ony one who can win on that bike lost that loving feeling and went home.

You think Dovi beats JLo over the course of the season in both qualifying and race?

Yes there is the happenstance that Dovi has won 2 premier class races ever, only one of them dry, and JLo has won 44 of the things, and Dovi never got near Stoner on a factory Honda while Lorenzo managed to beat him for a championship when he was on such a bike.

I think Jorge could surprise at Qatar, it is a Ducati track as Birdman says and Jorge seemed to be getting to grips with the Ducati towards the end of the last test, which oddly enough was at Qatar. I have my doubts about Dovi, just as I do with Vinales, over the whole race distance. If Jorge wins, it does not necessarily presage him being truly competitive for the title though, where as if MM wins at what I don't think is a great track for him the title outcome might be pretty much a given after the first race. I do expect Rossi to be strong.

Until we know how much coaching Dovi is getting, thats a difficult one too predict.
Does anyone know if the coaching will be shared between Lorenzo and Dovi, or is it just for Lorenzo?

Qatar is a Ducati track, but I do not see JLo being able to have his style race on the Ducati just yet. I think its a safe bet that Dovi will be on the podium. Maverick will be up there as well, maybe even on top. Folger will be the rider to watch as he has been impressive in testing so far.

More so in races. I think JLo is going to find it tough to be a metronome per his style. To me Dovi is always underrated. Each year he get better on this bike so until I see otherwise my chips are on him in that camp. Doesn't mean I don't think Jorge is a better rider but Dovi is good really good.

Dovi's had five years to get fully accustomed to the idiosyncrasies of the Ducati, and is the Ducati rider with the most intimate familiarity with it's development. And he has the advantage of building a five year relationship with management and crew - which is not insignificant. As we all agree, Lorenzo is the better rider, but yes - I also think he will struggle with changing his riding style to suit the bike, just as he struggled to adapt to the tires.

After all this time riding big four-strokes - he and Pedrosa are still essentially riding like 250 two-stroke guys; refined technique.
The Ducati after all it's updates and iterations continues to understeer. It doesn't want to be ridden like a dainty 250; it still wants
to be .....-slapped ala Stoner.
