Taking into consideration all classes of motorcycle racing in the world, who would be your top 10 current riders. Perhaps if you considered a race of all riders on absolutely equal machinery who would fill the top 10 places?

Here are mine?

1. Rossi
2. Bayliss
3. Melandri
4. Stoner
5. Tosland
6. Hopkins
7. Vermulen
8. Mladin
9. Spies
10. Haga

i don't think i could ever disagree with anything more. Like him or not you are kidding yourself by leaving Dani out, and as far as i can see the only person in the right place is Rossi.

I just read that list back to myself 3 times in disbelief that Pedrosa isn't in it, i'm sorry but thats hilarious. I don't know what criteria you have ranked these guys on, or were you picked up your evidence but i would appreciate it if you would explain.

Going to have to back Tom up here. Vermeulen ahead of Pedrosa? Melandri?! On more or less equal machinery this year, Pedrosa is third and Melandri is closer to third from the bottom.

Your basic mistake is considering WSBK as equal to MotoGP. You just need to look at Edwards achievements in MotoGP to see that this just isn't the case.

Cool. It is my opinion and I certainly don't expect anyone to have the exact same opinion as me.

So show me your top 10.

I pick them purely on how good a racer they are.

I am certainly not suggesting I am correct or have facts to back it up. Actually I don't think anybody could have facts to back their selection up as it has never happen that all the possible best riders in the world have raced on equal machinery with equal experience on that machinery so it is all specualative.

Hell no-one can even accurately pick the top 10 for tomorrows rac let alone pick the top 10 racing in all categories this year. So please don't bag me or laugh at me for my picks.

Just stick yours up with reasons if need be.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TP70 @ Jul 14 2007, 09:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I pick them purely on how good a racer they are.

is that to say how good they are in a battle for position, scrapping situation and ignoring the fact that some of these guys would be nowhere near fast enough to fight with people that appear behind them on the list or even aren't on the list at all

In my opinion the order I have laid them out is how I think they would finish a battle all starting of the line in a normal length race on equal machinery with equal experience on that machinery.

After all speed is no good if you can't race and as you said it being a good racer is no good if you have no speed.

So what are your top ten? The topic is not rate my top 10!

Rossi
Stoner
Pedrosa
Hopkins
Hayden
Melandri
DePuniet
Lorenzo
Edwards
Kiyonari

Fairly safe list.

I must admit I have never watched a BSB race so couldn't add anyone from their into my list.

You don't think anyone in WSBK rates? Why?

I had a lot of trouble making the choices at the lower half of the top ten (last 3), which is why you will see some of my bias and personal preferences creeping in. I don't especially rate world suerbikes, i feel only the top 3 riders would stand a chance and even then i would only bother with two of them (Bayliss and JT). The reason why they didn't make the top ten is because i think Chris Vermulen is better than both of them, and he didn't make it.

Hmmm. This is something fun to work
out on a long journey. Tom don't take it so seriously...this
should be interesting as I hold wsbk on a more level playing field
with gp than you do...
Haven't included
ama or bsb as don't get to watch
either and they're not world championships.

1. Rossi
2. Stoner
3. Bayliss
4. Hayden
5. Pedrosa
6. Lorenzo
7. Toseland
8. Bautista
9. Sofuoglu
10. Biaggi

Lol, the top 6 were all in my predictive text dictionary. Haga,
Dovizioso and Hopkins were all close...

(My top ten coming here soon)

Looking forward to it, and don't worry i won take it too seriously.

1. rossi
2. bayliss
3.katja poensgen (cos i fancy her)
4.stoner
5. pedrosa
6. hayden
7.marco ( when his head is straight )
8. biaggi (when his head is straight )
9. barros (when he can be arsed )
10. Sylvain Guintoli, (anybody who can qualify with a trolly on dunlops deserves to be on this list)

I cant settle on a definative top ten list but....

1.Rossi
2.Stoner

Are on another level from the rest, not much between them....

3.Pedrosa

The only guy near them

Then, I think it's a lottery on the day for most of the others,

4.Edwards

5.Hayden,

(On a good day)

6, Melandri

7.Bayliss

8.Lorenzo

9. DePuniet

10. Vermulin

Like I say outside the top 3 it's luck of the draw, Melandri needs to do something soon, hayden and Edwards need to do something, Lorenzo needs to move up to really see what he is made of, and De Puniet and Vermulin have had some good showings.

Yep respect to Guintoli, the guys doin the biz

Well it would be boring if we all agreed! Everyone is entitled to an opinion!

1. Rossi
2. Pedrosa
3. Stoner
4. Hayden
5. Bayliss
6. Melandri
7. Lorenzo
8. Dovizioso
9. Toseland
10. Hopkins

I've given this list quite a lot of thought, I have taken into account this season results (otherwise Capirossi and Nakano would be in that list) and also I have tried to not just consider the last few races (otherwise Stoner would be 1st and Melandri would be out)

And you know what they say about opinions. They are like ........,everyone has one,and everyone except yours stinks.

1. rossi
2. STONER
3. pedrosa

and the rest of it is the same as yours
