I'm pretty new to this motogp thing (compared to most of you guys, 2008 was the start for me) but i've been digging in the archives (thanks to rossiofsky).

Pretty much made this thread to get people's viewpoints and see which races i NEED to see.

anyhoo, so far my fave race is probably 2001 Phillip Island where there were like 5-6 bikes all fighting for the lead until the end. well biaggi/rossi pulled away somewhat but man what an awesome race.

what are your guys' fave races?

So many to pick from, but right off the top of my head I'd say you definitely need to see Jerez 05 and Estoril 06.

The end of this one was pretty epic too. Waldmann about a minute behind the leader 5 laps from the end, then it finished like this...

2008 US Grand Prix (Laguna, not Indy)

2009 Catalan Grand Prix

2009 German Grand Prix

2009 British Grand Prix (last year was a great year)

2006 Portuguese Grand Prix

those are all i can think of that you should go watch. and maybe the 2008 Indy Grand Prix. wasn't necessarily a great race but near the end they were racing in the remnants of Hurricane Ike so you get some great shots of them racing down the track with the trees in the background bent double from the wind.

2007 Catalunya

Yeah probably true in terms of watching and listening to the excitement of the comentators and the press reaction after, though for watching just guys riding well, you can't go past PI 09, well unless you look back at a few of the old Doohan v's Criville races.

I know this is not a MotoGP race, but it was a great world class race with the title being decided right at the end!! Edwards had 9 wins and was on the podium 25 out of 26 times that season!! Watch these races and you will see some of the best heads up riding between Edwards and Bayliss!!

2002 WSBK Imola Race 1 (part 1 of 9) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlhMotfvCyQ

2002 WSBK Imola Race 2 (part 1 of 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxC5rDeXXjY&feature=related

MotoGP races, I would say 2004 Welkom (South Africa) and 2003 PI round where Rossi had the 10 second penalty for passing under the yellow flag, and finished 15.2 seconds ahead to still take the win by 5 seconds after the penalty time was added to his finish. story on thePI Race

Also any Wayne Rainey/Kevin Schwantz battle on the 500cc machines from 1990 to 1993!!

Simon Crafar at £75 Visordown Cadwell trackday

Grand Prix winner and former WSB rider to take the place of James and Niall at the Cadwell Park trackday

Posted: 4 June 2010

by Robin Goodwin

DUE TO Whit being at the TT and Niall helping the Red Bull Rookies, we've pulled out all the stops to get GP legend Simon Crafar at the Visordown trackday at Cadwell Park.

Kiwi Simon Crafar was one of the faces of 90’s motorcycle racing, riding for Rumi Honda and Kawasaki in World Superbikes and beating the likes of Mick Doohan on a Red Bull Yamaha at Donington Park in 1998.

Crafar will be offering 1-2-1 instruction on a first time first served basis. There are limited places left on our trackday which is just £75. Call Focused Events on 0845 026 72 72 to book your place.

Event Date: 10/06/2010

Day: Thursday

Price per Rider: £75

Description:

Its a change of plan for this very special day, As Whit and Niall are tied up, we are flying in from Europe Grand Prix winner Simon Crafer. He will be available for instruction, autograhs and photos, there will be a lunchtime BBQ and other goodies as well and of course you'll be enjoying the mountain and all the rest of Cadwell's curves, corners, up and downs....its going to be a great day !

I was at that race and it was a phenomenal spectacle of riding by Rossi. I have commented on here before that that was the only time in the 990 era that we saw Rossi forget about racing his competitors and just ride flat out lap after lap after lap. These days we see it often with Stoner and Pedrosa and it is lost on some people but I find it enthralling.
