This is totally bizzare

I guess Suzuki is next since they have also pulled support and sponsorship from the series. But they have a problem, like most series, over half the entrants ride GSXR's like in the 600's a bunch ride the R6.Making .... up as you go along is what makes DMG who they are. What a team.

well over the last few months i've never seen as much .... as what goes on over there across the pond.its not funny but put it all together and it could become a top selling comedy paperback.
CRAZY.

It is beyond comprehension that you would tell a competitor [that has NOTHING to with their little political pissing contest] that he is not welcome in your series because of the bike he rides. Do these half wits think that Johnny privateer is going to run out and buy a new bike just to play in their ...... little series. How many fans are they going to alienate that own Yamaha's.That series is virtually dead and the good ole boys are having their last great act of defiance towards the OEM's and making themselves look even more petty than they are already perceived. .... em, my boycott just gained a new head of steam.

The bikes have to be homologated, and the series organizers usually charge a fee. Yamaha probably didn't pay to homologate the machine, and the same thing might happen in AMA at some point with Honda and Kawasaki. It proves that some bikes are dogs without the special race kit.

What's the link to DMG? Colin Fraser? DMG doesn't own PMP does it?

The craziness over here is starting to get annoying. North America must be the absolute worst managed sportsbike market in the world. The entire market is Harleys, custom choppers, metric cruisers, goldwings, and dirtbikes. Sportsbikes are getting more and more rare, and the manufacturers care less and less what happens to our market segment b/c there is no money in it.

This is exactly what I predicted was going to happen. We've got a bunch of sportsbike people who have an inflated sense of self-importance and they refuse to see the writing on the wall. They boycott DMG/AMA and they basically give the manufacturers the excuse they needed to pull the plug on supersports and superbikes.

More righteous indignation please. It's doing wonders for the North American market.

It's extortion. Penalizing a rider, and manufacturer, because they no longer wish to actively participate in a series.

How is this extortion? Whoever is in charge makes the rules and decides who can and cannot participate. One can organize a single make series or set criteria for a marque's participation.

However, I feel sorry for teams who invested in Yamaha R1s and are now shut out. The series must feel confident about its grid size next year.

They have now set a precedent and unless they do the same thing to Suzuki,i can see lawsuits on the horizon. The main problem with banning Suzuki, they make up over half the field. As far as homologation, they are saying bikes that have already been homologated in 08 and 09 are not welcome. So they ban the R1 because it doesnt affect the field that much, but allow the same manufacturer to run 600's because it does affect the size of the field. Then allow Suzuki, who commited the same crime as Yamaha to run because it will drastically affect the field. I cant see it holding up under scrutiny.
