<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>`We need to sit down and think about the situation a little bit,´ he added diplomatically.
`There are a couple of issues; we´ve got bikes reaching the safety road now, and that´s because of the corner speed. Tyre development has outgrown the tracks that we use,´ said Edwards, twice on the podium this season.

`We need to engineer something for better safety, and also for a better show. I´m all for making it a bigger spectacle, but two guys out in front with a twelve second lead after six laps? It´s a joke to me,´ he concluded, eager to challenge title contenders Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner for his first MotoGP victory in the remaining six races.

This wasn't about Edwards taking another ... at Michelins, well maybe. The way that MOTOGP is so damn lopsided at the moment really has to be frustrating to Edwards and to a lot of fans around the globe. Even Rossi fans have been yawining for a majority of the races this year. Although he bitched mighty loudly he never offered up any solutions thta he would like to see.

I just hope next year Moto GP will go with just 1 tire manufacturer...then riders will have no more excuses, except for Hayden of course right Hayden fans??? because as we all know.... it's never Hayden's fault, it's always how the team use and mistreat him.

Hayden won the WC with the same team, it has to be at least a little bit his own fault.

IMO, the 'riders will not have excuses' argument is a fallacy as if there is one supplier, it does not guarantee that each team/rider will be able to access the same compounds etc as others.

Nor does it take into consideration the fact that some teams will already have experience with the tyre brand chosen (thus why on another forum I suggested Dunlop
<
) and therefore already be in front of the teams from other brands.

If a single supplier is chosen (as seems highly likely with Bernie Ezpeleta) I would expect that we will remain with similar dominations as we have today for the first half of the season at least. Then, teams, riders and factories will have enough data to start developing their machines to the required levels to become more competitive (but may well never achieve the levels).

Yeah, I surmised that HRC took the 2008 RC212V away from Hayden at Qatar after Pedrosa crashed his.

2 days later Nicky said there were things that happened on the team that he didn't like, but that he couldn't talk about.

I started off the year batting 1.000. It is only a matter of time before the rest of my drivel is confirmed.

Besides the fuel limit prediction. That is just a guess.

Garry

It was just last season that Tech 3 was using Dunlops. I don't think that their tires have much improved but that is just a guess, which could help out with safety and slower corner speeds
<
Although, I think that Yamaha would have a slight advantage.

Even if Edwards was on the Bridgestones would he be challenging the front 2 runners?

true but not to much of an advantage as tech 3 have different riders and the team have different bikes from the dunlop days, not sure how much of the 990 dunlop data is useful on the 800's

Yamaha Tech 3 has confirmed that it will not use Dunlop tyres next season, when Colin Edwards and James Toseland will ride its YZR-M1s.

"Unfortunately, however, for various reasons, we have decided that we will not continue <u>with Dunlop for 2008</u>.

Still only a slight advantage because bikes errr electronics have changed so much

Looking at how poorly all of the 800cc Honda's have done (except for Perdrosa and to a lesser extent Dovi), Hayden isn't the only rider at "fault" when it comes to getting the machine to the front of the field. For whatever reason, the Honda (and the Duke) seem to only work for 1 of the riders fielding them.

It would be more correct to say Hayden won the WC at the pinnacle of 990cc development when the tire rules favored Michelin development practices.

Repsol wasn't much of a "team" in 2006, giving more backing to Pedrosa despite Hayden's point lead, and not issuing team orders to support the rider with the points lead.

Hayden fans aren't the only ones to make excuses, each rider has his own cheerleading section and each of those cheerleading section is filled with people ranging from intelligent to mindless devotion.

Read any post from any intelligent Hayden fan and you will find that most have openly admitted that Hayden cannot ride the 212. Period. Not much more to say, really. He's won races, won a world championship; clearly the talent is there. He just can't seem to showcase it on the 212.

But hey, the 'Evo' 211 was a necessary development platform and any manufacturer/team would give that precedent over aiding a rider world championship...
