Good news for you guys. I think this is the next logical move for RL Hayden, get on one of the satellite Ten Kate Superbikes next year, no mucking around get out of the US asap.

Excellent news, i always thought it was stupid not to have a world superbike race in the category's homeland wile having three rounds in the UK and Italy. Hopefully we can see some wild card action like the old days, and some US guys can show us enough talent to get out of their domestic series before its too late.

WSBK was in the USA from 1995 until 2004.

The 2004 winner was Chris Vermulen.

Yeah i know, i was watching it

RJ, how do you think the youngest Hayden would fare in WSBK? I would say after a year and getting agglimated to the tracks and the Euro lifestyle he would be a top 5 contender, if he's on something other than a Kawasaki.

Hi Braker,

I would think Roger Lee would do pretty well if on a competitive bike. Most of know that the AMA is a Suzuki cup at the moment. Well considering that he's had some good showings on the Kawasaki super bike class, I'd say he'd be right up their with the top 5 as you say. WSBK is very competitive, and I have much respect for their riders. I'm not one to think (as some others do) that WSBK riders are that far off from MotoGP. So considering that we have Haga, Bayliss, Toesland, Biaggi, and Corser at the top on any given weekend, then I think he might be perhaps at par or just behind Corser at the moment. Sure, this is all speculation, but that's where I think he might come in.

Consider this. His Roger Lee came runner-up to brother Tommy for championship he won. We have some pretty good riders in Spies and Mladin fighting at the front in superbike, and Tommy has not managed to battle for the lead as of yet, despite being on a factory Suzuki. Yet younger brother Roger Lee on a Kawasaki (I don't think I have to go into comparing Suzuki to Kawasaki in the AMA superbike class, right?) so, considering that he has beat his brother a few times, indicates to me Roger is on the up swing and would be a better than average rider in WSBK. Keep in mind that factory Kawasaki, though of him good enough to risk giving him a wildcard in the MotoGP grid. So considering making the adjustment from one superbike to another might not be as much as a leap as to a prototype bike like GP.

Food for thought I guess. Who knows, he may suck in international racing. But then again, the family has a real pedigree of racing in their blood. All of them have won championships (if you consider the dirt tracking record), and two of the three have won national titles, and middle brother a MotoGP title. I'd say Roger Lee could hold his own on the track with the big boys of WSBK.

Well if it's going to happen, I hope it happens for him real soon. Maybe Spies will join him as well.

I would love to see both of them give it a go!

Honestly both of them need to get out what RJ calls the Suzuki Cup(he's not wrong) and represent in WSBK so interest in that series will gain a following in the US.
Bostrom's efforts a few years ago was weak at best IMO, but if I remember correctly he wasn't exactly on the best machines?

You mean when he won races on a factory Ducati?

I remember him winning races on the Ducati, but didn't he have a go another year for a Honda team?

sorry, I posted this before doing a google...let me see if I can find some details of what I am talking about.

Here it is Tom...good ol Wikipedia.....This is what I was referring to.

He made a return to international racing for 2005, with the Renegade Honda team in WSBK but was unsuccessful.

That's cool. I know it's a great layout, might drive the mechanics crazy with the altitude.

Damn, I was hoping Road America would get it. Sure, Miller is fine and all, but I would feel much better if Road America were representing my country. Miller, like most new tracks, is boring. I guess already having pit garages was a bonus. Oh well, I'm still glad that WSBK appears to be coming back.

How is Road America ......?

Miller is supposedly a done deal and negotiations are ongoing with Barber for a 2nd race in the states. If Barber loses out again on an international bike race[he was thought to have the GP race that went to Laguna secured but pissed it away over a disagreement with the Birmingham Mayor]he needs to either fire himself as negotiator or the ..... that is doing the negotiating. He let a 1/4 billion dollar event slip away over a millon dollars. He and the Mayor should have been drawn and quartered for that one.

In an interview i saw a while back..with the builder/designer of Miller..
he plain said...this track was built with motorcycle racing in mind..we want to get WSBK back, and Moto GP some time in the future...

i love it when a plan comes together.
