Hi Braker,
I would think Roger Lee would do pretty well if on a competitive bike. Most of know that the AMA is a Suzuki cup at the moment. Well considering that he's had some good showings on the Kawasaki super bike class, I'd say he'd be right up their with the top 5 as you say. WSBK is very competitive, and I have much respect for their riders. I'm not one to think (as some others do) that WSBK riders are that far off from MotoGP. So considering that we have Haga, Bayliss, Toesland, Biaggi, and Corser at the top on any given weekend, then I think he might be perhaps at par or just behind Corser at the moment. Sure, this is all speculation, but that's where I think he might come in.
Consider this. His Roger Lee came runner-up to brother Tommy for championship he won. We have some pretty good riders in Spies and Mladin fighting at the front in superbike, and Tommy has not managed to battle for the lead as of yet, despite being on a factory Suzuki. Yet younger brother Roger Lee on a Kawasaki (I don't think I have to go into comparing Suzuki to Kawasaki in the AMA superbike class, right?) so, considering that he has beat his brother a few times, indicates to me Roger is on the up swing and would be a better than average rider in WSBK. Keep in mind that factory Kawasaki, though of him good enough to risk giving him a wildcard in the MotoGP grid. So considering making the adjustment from one superbike to another might not be as much as a leap as to a prototype bike like GP.
Food for thought I guess. Who knows, he may suck in international racing. But then again, the family has a real pedigree of racing in their blood. All of them have won championships (if you consider the dirt tracking record), and two of the three have won national titles, and middle brother a MotoGP title. I'd say Roger Lee could hold his own on the track with the big boys of WSBK.
