Leon Haslam is on the DucatiGP version of WSBK.

And worst of all, he resigned. I was listening to the commentators during Q for GP and they mentioned Bradley coming out of Motot2. They talked about how good it was to have a continum of British representation in GP to count on. Then they mentioned a few probables from Wsbk. The names they mentioned were Laverty and Rea. WTF, why is Haslam so invisible?!? I'd put Haslam up against those to and Crutchlow, and given the same bike I'd put a week's paycheck on Haslam. The commentators even mentioned Chaz Davis. Jesus Christ! Dude could barely manage to be mid pack in AMA. What about the package does these men not understand? In the short stint that Haslam was on something "competitive" he was on point for the title, that is until Suzuki did what they do best, and stop developing.

Here is how I rank those names:

Halsam

Crutchlow

Rea

Laverty

Davis

BTW, that other Aprillia is bein wasted on that other Leon. Put the right Leon on that RSV-4, and you would see Haslam challenge for the title similar to Biaggi did.

Rea seems to have woken up and found the right pace in the previous round and this one. He was mediocre pretty much most of this season, I wonder what happened.

I see your point Jumkie, but I think one thing that goes against Haslam is age. Sadly. Laverty, Rea, even Davies are a few years younger, which goes a long way in GP. Him going to BMW has pretty much ...... his GP aspirations. He'd probably go better on a Kwak.

i see your point jumkie but i'm not so sure that crutchlow is to be ranked above rea and most importantly ,i think you greatly underestimate camier.don't forget hes on a customer bike in factory livery , that guy did phenomenal in bsb and i don't see any reason why he shouldnt start winning again if given the opportunity

this is live on Eurosport Germany today fta and a stream is up with Eng lang watch n weep motogp

congrats to checa, he really deserves this title even if biaggi moans that the tyres are better for twins.

oh and melandri confirmed for a bmw ride in 2012, i guess we'll see how "ducati" that bmw is...

Loen Haslam riding a Aprilia would be a very interesting combination. I am sure he would perform better than Camier.

Congratulations to Checa for his well deserved title.

is laverty trying to hurt his foot on purpose?

his riding looks like .... since he got that habbit

I wonder what happened.

They changed the rules to allow different ride by wire and throttle systems to be fitted without being on the road bike, or something. Bottom line was they put the new bits on the Honda and it was considerably better right away

The other thing with Haslam, is he's had plenty of top end rides, but has won niether the BSB or WSBK title in his career. Yes, he wins races, yes he's regularly in the mix, but, does he have the title in him? Is he consistant enough? I have my doubts. I'm sure any team boss is going to look long and hard at his career before offering him a top ride. Haslam has had all the chances and no titles

The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

I was in the BMW hospitality at WSBK Silverstone this year and talked to the team crew chief and plenty of others involved with the team. It seemed that re-signing Haslam was a major priority for them ( this was at the time when there was rumours about his Leon's discontent with the uncompetitive nature of the bike ). From what was said he was their preferred choice out of the crop of available riders.

I do realise that the bike is not competitive enough and that BMW may have thought that Haslam was going to be as good as they could hope for, but I do get the feeling that is not the case. The bike is certainly pretty quick in a straight line and we all know that the major issue which has been well documented is the electronics package. I talked to the crew chief and he said they have been developing their own package since day one and will continue to do so. Haslam said that due to the inhouse development of the electronics, it felt like they did their testing during each race weekend. Problems getting the bike into corners, over running etc etc etc.

Another well documented point is that BMW have stated that they will not enter MotoGP until they win a WSBK title. They can focus on this single championship and they do have the added benefit of having some reasonably deep pockets within their business as a whole to fund this activity. The S1000RR is selling really well and in the press the boss of BMW says they will make it a winner on the track too. I don't think it will be too long before they have a bike which is consistently capable of running at the very sharp end. I don't think that Leon is necessarily in a bad place with the BMW FACTORY squad going forward.

I havent seen race two yet so can't comment, but will do so when I see the final race. ta ta

Yeah, honestly I shouldn't have commented on Camier, I don't know enough about him. So just based on what I've seen so far in WSBK. While Biaggi's teammate, he hasn't been Max to many times. I don't know what the team order situation is like, but if it was anything like Toesland/Laconi, then Camier does deserve a break. So, point taken buddy.

Fair point Pete. I didn't follow him in BSB, but have in WSBK. I think he had it in him while on the Suz, but development issues seem to have canned that possible title (my guess). He is a guy who rode for TenKate brilliantly and I think that's what got him his Suz ride. But then Suz was Suz (which is not as bad as Kawa, but you know my meaning). Maybe I just have a man-crush on the guy and should just shut up. Btw, Wilski got me a nice jersey with Leon's signature, so I don't think that helped in the man-crush department.

Excellent post brotha. I wish they would just call the Italian for their electronics.

Camier definitely has some potential. He waltzed to a BSB title not long ago. Ok, he had a very good bike and the grid was possibly not as deep as it can be but you still gotta win it.

I read somewhere that Camier is highly regarded by a number of motogp team managers. Perhaps not ready yet but certainly in the near future.

Another point is that Camier is a big dude. Met him at Oulton last year and he towered over me. That Aprilia is tiny ! This has been another patchy season for Leon but riding in Max's shadow hasn't helped. Even more established riders didn't fancy the aprilia seat whilst Biaggi is in town as they know the ain't gonna get equal treatment.
