Right you ....., lets get back to RACING and not trying to prove you are all holier than thou, can't believe WSBK from LAGUNA freaking SECA hasn't had a mention on here yet.

So, lets start talking: Chaz leads an all Ducati front row for the races today!

Chaz Davies will start a World Superbike Championship race from pole position for the first time in his career as he led a Ducati 1-2 in qualifying for round nine of the season at Laguna Seca.

An upset of sorts given Kawasaki's Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea had headed up the timesheets coming into Superpole, the factory Aruba.it Ducati team unleashed its full potential when it mattered as Davies and Davide Giugliano duked it out for the top spot.

However, it was Davies that would prevail with a best lap of 1min 22.101secs, while Giugliano was forced to settle second, just under two tenths behind, after fluffing his first effort on new tyres and being forced to push on the second run instead.

Though a relative veteran of 89 World Superbike races, this is the first time Davies has notched up a WSBK pole position since his debut in 2012. As a measure of his surprisingly meagre qualifying record, Davies was only ever a one-time pole winner in 28 World Supersport starts too.

Davies and Giugliano will be joined on the front row by Red Devils Aprilia rider Jordi Torres, the Spaniard coming on strong in Superpole to put himself at the head of the field and keep the Kawasakis at bay.

Indeed, Kawasaki will be forced to do its work from row two after neither Sykes nor championship leader Rea were able to hook it up over a single lap, the pair starting fourth and fifth respectively, with Leon Haslam completing an all British second row in sixth position.

Niccolo Canepa heads up row three on the privateer Althea Ducati, ahead of Alex Lowes – who may have some choice words for Giugliano for baulking one of his fast laps –, while defending champion Sylvain Guintoli gets away from ninth.

Making it through from SP1, Leon Camier went on to secure a fine tenth place starting spot for MV Agusta, with David Salom and Ayrton Badovini rounding out row four.

Further back, Michael van der Mark's difficult weekend continued on, the Dutchman down in 15th position as he struggles to get to grips with the Californian circuit, while Randy de Puniet, having shown top ten pace in practice, couldn't manage any better than 17th aboard the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki.

My brain is addled from getting on afternoon beers to finally kill my hangover...how come poverty SBK can Laguna it up and MotoGP can't? Awesome circuit.

Van Der Mark is struggling mightily at his first go at Laguna much like Keshav struggles to not look like a buffoon. I love seeing riders acclimate to the Corkscrew. Its very black and white. You either get it or you don't, much like Keshav but he never gets it.
I hate to give Pedders credit but his rookie debut at Laguna was nuts. Much like Keshavs mouth which is currently full of Jumkies nuts.
The lap times of the superbikes at Guna are pretty much the same as 990GP bikes 9 years ago sorta like Keshavs posts which are the same whiny high horse admonishments he was spouting back then.
I cant help but watch this race and think that Hayden belongs in that series and would be fun to watch rip Guna on a SBK, almost as fun as watching Keshav getting ripped by Jums and JPS.
Let's not forget that Moto America/AMA/DMG/Dregs of American racing is there as well. Its not televised,as far as I would know, I would ask Geo, who would know these things but his ego is too great to respond. Maybe he can "raise the bar" and post some links to this.
I hope some boners watch as well. You just might see a Turn 1 outside pass

Haha, now Kesh, don't go all ballistic. That was genuinely funny (and true).

Ah man, I really wanted to go to Laguna Wsbk this year. A few things conspired against me. I was also interested in seeing what's up with AMA. This will be the first year since 1998, that I've missed an even here. My run is over. (Sad)

Good to see Chaz up there. He is well liked at Laguna given he raced in the AMA, so people know him. Also, he was on track to do well last year until he bumped his head and wasn't cleared to race. (Funny how in GP people with broken whatever, including broken brains, are inevitably cleared to endanger themselves and others).

My prediction is, Chaz and Jrea on the podium, just don't know order. Jrea scored a podium last year after some problems. I hate to admit it but I was impressed (though let's not forget Chaz wasn't in the mix).

Manatease, consider these bikes are way dialed back. Basically Superstock. I suspect those times would be better today if the modification development curve had been allowed to continue along with rubber to match.
 
Good call Jum but pretty predictable, Chaz rode well but rider of race 1f for me was Sykes, he held off Rea perfectly and of course at times Rea started diving like he did in his Honda days. IMO he rode a bit like a .... in that race.
 
Well, given the recent admonishing, I didn't want to describe it that way from fear of recriminations, but yeah he rode twatesk. But also, wasn't he carrying an injury?


I'm sitting here sooking a bit, totally for selfish reasons I'm not there. But believe me I had good reason to stay. That or immediate deserved divorce. But maybe when u relocation to the West, we can go see a Wsbk even at Laguna?

A few years ago Jonny didn't have that kind of patience. No doubt they both would have ended up in the gravel but I give Jonny all the credit in the world, he's a changed man. Great ride by Chaz. I think we'll see a similar podium in race 2.

I'm watching race 1. Is this Torres first time racing here? Seems to be doing well. A bit disappointed with Haslam. But there are 19 to go for me. Those Kwakers seem to do well everywhere.

Edit, just saw replay. He did. Then again at the Corkscrew. Nightmare.
 
I wont be up late enough to watch Race 2 so I'll catch the action tomorrow.
 
8 to go, Jrea getting excellent drive out of corkscrew. I fully expect a dive bombing .
 
Crap, Haslam down. Now I'm glad I didn't go to Laguna.

Well...I gotta say, this is the most reserved and prudent I've ever seen Jrea ride. Obviously somebody told him to think about the title.

Well done by Chaz, not one mistake. Well done by Sykes, small consolation, but "beating " Jrea should give him confidence.

Waiting for race 2....

Odd start to race 2 already.

Tom is racing Jonny extremely hard. That may not pay off long run.
