Apparently it was cash, Corona have left the series and Batta didn't have the funds/sponsor to pay Max's salary.

Max Mo Money

Max is now going to be on a Sterilgarda Ducati, hopefully he can get some decent results on a 'customer' bike.

Biaggi Ducati Si!

From Max's Website

Max Biaggi and the Team Ducati-GMB signed today an agreement to ride in 2008 the World Championship SBK. The pilot says: it seems me a good opportunity, the team has guaranteed that we will have high-level technicians, the structure is growing considering that next year we will be two pilots. Unfortunately we wont be testing at the end of November in Qatar, but we hope to be on track within the first week of December in Vallelunga or Valencia. I am motivated for this new adventure and then… to ride a Ducati has always been my dream!

Looks like ducati weren't joking about their new policy being to sign only italian and australian riders

Good for Max...now that he is on equal equipment as Troy Bayliss, let's see who is really the best of the two!

Great news. Love Max. Would have been a blow for SBK to lose him.
I havent read all the press yet, so dont know all the facts, but Im surprised that Sterilgarda can offer max enough money, seeing as that was a major problem for Francis batta. Maybe max has just took the offer anyway. Either that or nothing. I read that Sterilgarda will be getting factory backing. I hope it isnt the same sort of half-arsed factory backing that Mealandri got from HRC this season. Max aint gonna be happy unless he's fighting at the front.

well i don't know if the ducati will suit max so well. will his smooth style suit the duc? or will he have to learn to ride more like bayliss? we shall see!
