You just love to take a dump on Rossi whenever the chance presents itself. This thread had nothing to do with Rossi or his number, but you just could'nt help yourself

Anyway are you talking about Motogp's branding = Dorna's branding cos I say .... them, they are destroying the sport from within. Viva 46 style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif

On topic

I can't say for sure but I think Stoner won't take the # 2 and do what Dani did, like that really made Dani better than Valentino
<
, anyway Valentino though the two little ..... a lesson this year. Kudos Vale

Both are put back in their place and will return to their original race #'s(unless Ducati make Casey take #2
<
)

I'd hardly say that Stoner has been "put back in his place".

He went from 0 race wins in 2006 to 10 in 2007 and has 5 this year despite two DNFs and a wrist injury for the last 3 or 4 races. Without Stoner this season would have been extremely Rossi dominated - he would have 12 wins with one race to go.

And Laguna would have been pish.
<

Pedrosa, on the other hand, ....

Yamaka46 you should change your user name to Factsman46
<

As much as Berry(Thanks Rog) stands by "Dobby" I stand by that statement
<
but I did mean it mostly for Dani

I never said anything about the sport being boring or anything like that had Stoner not being around, your making a mountain out of a molehill my friend

So you do admit what you wrote was a "molehill"

and its Dubbo ...... I have no idea what a Dobby is nor even how to spell it!

On the racing numbers ..... I often think that there is much more emphasis on the rider these days ( as opposed to the manufacturer as it seemed in the 500's ), the keeping of personal numbers certainly does help tip the balance towards a major interest in the rider as opposed to the brand.

Cultural differences create misunderstandings, for example this Number One thing. To some cultures is dishonorable not to wear it if you are a Champion, and to others is egocentric. Also wearing your usual number always means luck (in fact Hayden had his ‘69’ inside that big ‘One’ during 2007), and could even be seen as loyalty. Whatever the reason, there is misunderstanding.
<

I agree it could be a cultural thing. IMHO, especially for a rookie champ, using the #1 just puts a big target on ya. The rest of the field says' "yeah, you thinks yer number one, bring it...".

Sorry Roo. I thought the same as you at first mate, Dad's got a pic somewhere of Doohan running 27.

And thanks guys on the Olive thing, I didn't know that. Anyone know if he still runs it or not?

Well it worked for several Americans in MotoGP. (Not so much for the last two).
