Of course he should keep #46, for this and other reasons; I think he is somewhat superstitious about such things as well, isn't he?

I would also be surprised if casey stoner doesn't go back to #27; as I recall he only ran #1 this year at ducati's insistence.

Damn that Barry Sheene & is attempts at individualism. Who knew all along he was just insulting the sport?

i would definitely keep my favorite number (16) if i ever won the WC. but sadly i don't have to worry about that.

I think its great that the riders are allowed to chose numbers that have meaning to them. The riders without a meaningful number can always just have their finishing position and thats fine too. The #1 plate is an honour to those who aspire to riding with it, but not every rider aspires primarlily to the number on their bike over other aspects of the champion status. It's not like Rossi is refusing the championships he wins.

#27 (as you are no doubt aware) was Doohans number prior to 5 years at No.1 and I for one think it's pretty cool to win races with Mick's number again.

Casey would probably rather drink lepers spit than wear the number 2 plate.

Didn't Doohan run his ranking after his rookie season?

I have a beautiful picture at home of Gardener with the No. 2 plate and Doohan with he #27 plate (1989 Phillip Island). I think he may have run the number 2 plate in 91/92 then 27 plate for his other years of not being #1.

So I think you're right for the 91/92 season. The point is #27 was Doohans starting number that he wore for a few years in any case. The reason Casey picked it was the Doohan connection.

As far as i know Doohan ran #27 only in 89.

I'm not going to argue because I'm not sure, you're more than likely right.

He did run at, well, at least for like one race, once upon a time right?

I think he ought to put a number 3 on it, he's looking more and more like biaggi all the time. I bet he'll never get higher than that.!

not really a rossi fan, but currently HE IS THE SPORT
Anyway, if you're the winner, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want (as it pertains to the #)
It's just a ...... number man

As far as I know, but i maybe wrong, the reason that Casey runs 27 is because Puig gave it to him when he was under his wing earlier in his career. The same with Dani and 26 and Toni with 24. Wonder who 25 was?

I read that also. I think he will go back to the 27 since his merchandise is also linked to it.

ahhhhhh, we live and learn.

.... Puig, it was Doohans first number. Right now I'm rocking back and forwards in a foetal position with my eyes shut humming Ave Maria.

Thanks for destroying my Doohan Stoner number thing man
