Back to the question in the original post ... (not that I'm especially avoiding the previous mails, just I want to comment on the original thread line.)
From my reading of the autobiographies of Doohan and Rainey and from a mate's commentary on Schwantz's screwing with Kocinski's head via "the girlfriend bet" and Rossi putting the "he will never win another race" hex on Gibernau ... these guys engage in a lot of competitive psychology, and sometimes it is slick and sometimes it is crass. I guess whether it appears crass to us grandstand fillers doesn't matter too much, the question they would be interested in if they've got their heads in the right place is "will it turn the right screws in the heads of their competitors?".
So, reading Hayden's head from afar is no easy task ... is he trying to convince himself, or us, or is it his attempt to mess with his competitors' heads, and if so, is it going to work?
Cheers
Rob
