There isn't just Moto GP in Laguna this weekend. You also got AMA Superbikes too that go there.

probably too expensive for the 125 and 250 teams. Laguna used to have 125 and 250 races, like back in the 60's and 70's. I always wondered the exact same thing though.... The AMA races are .... compared to 125 and 250's. I wish they did come, then i'd get to see them up close and personal!

I thought Laguna had 125/250 in the 80s and early 90s as well...

And Yes AMA is $hit compared to Smaller GP classes...but its just the American's clingling to the old belief that the AMA is a race great series and that GPs are a silly European thing...

But What will the American's think when RDP the Frenchman beats Roger Hayden? Will they bring back 'Freedom Fries' as a result?

Its actually Californian emission laws that dont allow 2 strokes, the 125s and 250s will be present at Indianapolis, price has nothing to do with it.. I personally always thought it was that Laguna didnt have sufficient pit facilities to provide room for all three, that is apprently false also..

Its too expensive for the 125's and 250's teams to get themselves from Europe to North America in one week, and then back to Europe again in a few weeks. They chose to have a break in the middle instead and head straight to Brno.

Nope...Two Strokes are banned in California, but only for private use only...Two Strokes are allowed for 'closed-course competition' use, like racing at Laguna.

Good job on putting an entire country of people into one category. That is impressive. Hell the Nazis and the KKK have trouble doing that.

I think you'll find alot of Americans realize that the AMA series do not measure up to the world championship classes. Anyone from journalists to fans on this forum criticize the AMA, some get downright harsh in their criticism.

Well said.

naturally a lot of Anericans, particularly you guys on here (we appreciate it) realize that there are three classes of Grand Prix motorcycle racing but i think the majority wouldn't really care about the two strokes as much as AMA. You guys know how i feel about the idea of breaking up the program just because the audience is only interested in a few elements of the sport, i justh hope the full deal makes it to Laguna as a result of the Indy deal!

That is exactly how Dorna felt about America also, and I can say that the feeling was or is probably correct. I think they realize now that the U.S. has the GP fan base now to sell the tickets. They used the old WSBK formula which was cool when the AMA guys got to run in the WSBK race. Now I think its no good and the AMA and GP should stay separate, even though I will admit for smaller based U.S. racers it is a treat to be in the same paddock as the greats.

Just because you say you were American does not give you the right to discriminate. Good for you, you moved to the UK.

So to make an analogy of what you are saying.

You would think that it is alright for a person to convert from being Jewish to Catholicism and then go walking down the street calling all the Jewish people he saw "....." (sorry I dont know how to spell that word and I apologize if it offended anyone).

That is the same rationale you just displayed.

Well i will just have to disagree with you.AMA Superbike is .... because of the domination of one maker. The support classes,Formula extreme and Supersport offer some of the best racing you will see anywhere.I would much rather watch a race with 150 hp in line 600's than the 125's and 250's.I go to a lot of AMA events and even when they used to run the 2 strokes, not many people really cared. That was when they went to the paddock or cooked their lunch or took a nap.America is about big brute horsepower in just about any kind of racing.that is why Gp started catching on when they went to the big bore 4 stroke.Only the diehard racing fan watced Gp back in the 2 stroke days and we had a lot of American champions. Now people can somewhat relate to these bikes because they can buy replicas. As far as your other comment,i thought the Freedom Fries thing was stupid as did most Americans. We would have prefered someone busting a cap in Chirac's crown, cause we love our FRENCH FRIES

This is why i don't like the laguna Seca deal!! Like you say, most of the US crowds don't like grand prix racing, and as a result the organizers pick and chose to give what is essentialy half a grand prix weekend. This ecvent for me sums up the commercialization of the sport that came with the 4-strioke switch, and its a shame!
