What would Powerslide.net be with out a little speculation?

So lets speculate on something we will never know the answer to. Who would win a MX race between the MotoGP riders?

We know a few of them have distinguished dirt track careers pre road racing and then some of them who have almost no dirt background such as Pedrosa.

I think Stoner and Hayden would do well and probably Edwards too.

Interesting topic. I've often thought of bringing this up but expanding it to who would be the best at mx or dirt.

I would say Hayden hands down on dirt. He was considered to be quite the prodigy when he left to pursue a roadracing career.

(True Hayden fans salivate at the thought of him being born 10 years earlier in the 500 era.)

As far as mx I would put my money on Edwards because he is the only one who had a mx career before he made the switch. Second would be Hayden because I think that other than Edwards noone has or does spend as much time on a mx bike.

Other than that I can't think of anyone in motogp who would be competitive.

The one guy who I think would beat them all would be Mladin

Flat track, no question, not sure about MX, but Hayden would be my pick for both. If Rossi's comments were serious after he watched the flat trackers at the Indy Mile, he woildnt want any part of it. He said something along the lines of ...., these guys are insane.

How cool would it be to have an Ultimate Riders competition. Get the best 20, make them ride high performance but standardized bikes (ie. All race on the same kit) in each discipline - flat track, MX and road race.

There has to be a TV show in that?

Wasn't there an MX race a couple of years ago between a few of the motogp guys?

Dovi won iirc

It would depend on the type of Flat track to me ...... US flat track is just oval isn't it? Aust. dirt track ( flat track/short circuit has left and right turns )

I'd Pick Stoner ..... mainly on the flat track ...... the guy had a phenomenal number of titles even as a kid.

Even though Doohan started in the same discipline he had nowhere near the titles as Stoner. Same for Gardner and McCoy though I think Gardner was more MX and McCoy speedway oriented as kids.

Not sure if Stoner raced much MX?

If it were pure MotoX, not SuperMoto, that would be hard to call with the current crop of racers. I know Hayden can mix it up. There is a video of him practicing at the SuperMoto X-games round a few years ago, and he was hitting some big time jumps there. (The XGames race Mr. Jumkie talked Nicky into go to Ducati...lol). I don't want to disount any of these guys on any type of bike though, apparently Mr. Rossi wasn't bad on a MX bike before injuring his shoulder.

If we go back a few years though in the 500cc era...a Jean Michelle Bayle would wax everyone's arse...but he came from MotoX to Roadracing as a multi World and AMA champ.

They have a couple of races a year called TT's where the course has a few rights and a high speed jump included. It was at the Peoria TT where Hayden's legend began after he beat Chris Carr, who had won the event over 10 years in a row. He cemented his legend after he left flat track to go road racing, came back with his brothers to run the Springfield TT in a one off kind of guest appearance and they finished 1-2-3 in one of the biggest events in Flat Track.

That would be epic!

You have to look at those who have actually raced MX at a decent level. Among the MotoGP guys there is Dovi.

But if we include also Moto2, Simon should trash them all... he's an ex MX champion.

Well Mika Kallio would paste them all in ice racing.

One of lifes greatest dissapointments was when Nicky got injured at the X games Supermoto. They had a full on Supercross track where he was losing time but from what I remember he was way faster than anyone on the asphalt. We'll never know how well he could have done which is a shame because I'm sure he'll never do it again.

In the last 10 years MX has made a leap foward. I would say any younger roadracers that formerly raced MX would be better.

Last year when Pastrana decided to cameo a 250 race he couldn't even make the main. He was amazed by how much things had changed. His quote was "wow these guys scrub everything now" Keep in mind he was not that far removed from being a 125 champion.

isnt Dovi the MX king of the motogp field?

Idk...i know when rossi had his charity race Simon beat every1

I would say that nicky would be really good, ive seen pictures of dovi riding mx and he looked pretty sick at it
