He may not have to leave Ducati/Audi

If Audi buy Ducati they may get better value sticking Vale in an R8 an aiming him at Nurburgring.

But he's worse in a car! Why would they do that.

I more think Audi ( being rather Germanic ) may come through Ducati with a scythe. The Ducati personnel may not have the gumption to "not offer Rossi a position" at the end of 2012, but the Germans would fell quite at home in trimming the fat.

If anything, it seems that Audi wishes to buy Ducatu mainly becuase of the contract they have with VR. Imagine if VR puts his name on some Audi's... the sales impact will be fenomenal!

Where have you seen even the remotest indication that this is the case ?

How many Audi's are you planning on buying because Rossi has one?

FFS Ducati have likely gone bust with Rossi ....... do you really think Audi want that?

You are one deluded bopper

Rossi will leave Ducati regardless of who is the new owner of Ducati...3-misery-year is too much to swallow. If Stoner can clinch his 3rd WC in 2012 and a good salary may make him return to good old Ducati factory....

Doubt Ducati could afford Stoner any more, he'll be offered ridiculous amounts by Honda and Yam. He may buy Ducati by then.

Poor old Ducati is really up .... creek. Their only chance is to find the new Stoner.

I prefer not to go to the level of personal insults. Rossi increased Ducati sales since he joined. Fact. He can do the same with Audi. Fact. The name VR translates to billions in any form of motor vehicle manufacturer.

Stoner has brought nothing to Ducati in terms of business. Just as he brought nothing to Honda. Companies think business. Rossi will always command a larger salary then Stoner, even if he rode a mini bike. Rossi is very appreciated and popular by bilions of people. his name brings big business to any company.

I'm sorry, that's utter ........

At the end of 2007 Ducati was in the black for the first time in 9 years.

i'm sure that has nothing to do with all the new models like the multistrada, hypermotard or monster.

it must have been rossi finishing 6th!

Its not about Rossi finishing 6th. Its about the one and only GOAT riding the brand. The most popular rider in MotoGP.

So because of Rossi bike sales in America are increasing?

I wouldn't like to see him retire but then I do feel that maybe we have now seen the best of him and he can no longer compete. He will still win races I think, just notmany more championships.

Although if he did retire, would he still have enough to live on? I read ages ago that basketball players go bankrupt after they retire from playing.

From Forbes:

" What’s more, Ducati’s apparel and accessories lines also recorded a 50-percent annual increase over 2010."

And why is that, haters?

do you really think all motorcycle buyers are gp fans and on top of that they buy the brand their favorite rider rides for?

rossi to boost audi sales?are you serious?

please explain how rossi saved ducati from the "lost stoner" years

Triumph, Harley and BMW sales are all up similar numbers. The Rossi effect? Or the combination of a high yen and bland product offering from Japan?

yes thats maybe true, lots of ducati shirts and caps being sold with #46 on them. but thats an entirely different thing to selling expensive ,big bikes.

i wonder whether selling shirts got them the 15 mill $ they spend on him though.

anybody know what stoner was getting 2007-2010?
