If you could turn back the clock, who in your mind really deserved to be champion?

1. Valentino Rossi
2. Colin Edwards
3. Dani Pedrosa
4. Toni Elias
5. Marco Melandri
6. Sete Gibernau
7. Loris Capirossi
8. Shinya Nakano
9. Randy de Puniet
10. Kenny Roberts Jr.
11. Casey Stoner
12. Alex Hoffman
13. Jose Luis Cardoso
14. Chris Vermeulen
15. John Hopkins
16. Carlos Checa
17. James Ellison
18. Makoto Tamada

-- Be honest and don't just choose Rossi because he's your favourite, but if you think he deserved it (like me
<
) then you have a good reason!--

-- Also put why you put that rider --

-- If you agree to the world champion already, then just put Hayden--

my opinion, silly topic... the one with the most points deserved it, simple
<

Cardoso deserved it. If it hadn't been all those failures with the bike, tyres, engine, and rider, he'd have won the title weeks ago!

Yh, but if you could put anyone on any ride, then they stand a great chance of being a title contender. It's not really about points because you can fall off all season through bad luck e.g Gibernau, but he could still deserve it.

Did that make sense coz im not that good at explainin lol

when it comes down to a team championship, yes repsol honda and hayden deserved it, because they put together the best packeage of reliability and good management (apart from two weeks ago). BUT

when it comes down to who is the best rider in the series vale is 'the' best if not the best ever man to through his leg over a bike
...... PERIOD as you yanks like to say

and if you dont think so take a vote and see

besides vale won more races this year alone than hayden has in his whole motogp career.

I think Valentino desreved it too, but i don't see what it has to do with points. I'm not tryin to sound dis-respectful, but it's my view on it. Ok, if i try and narrow it down....say Nicky Hayden had a lot of technical difficulties, but had been working sooo hard to win the championship and from this, he has lost a fair amount of points, can you say that he still didn't deserve it? Would it still be down to points then?

I think hayden won fair and square, but the thing about racing is that it aint always the best rider wins.
cause lets face the truth if vale had of been on the honda this year, well i dont think it would have come down to the last round any way, but thats what made the championship so good this year, watching him fight for all his worth to claw those points back instead of running off into the widerness with it. but i take my hat off to hayden, its just the american way of celibrating ..... me right off, so over the top and loud, i hate to go about vale but at least he comes up with sommething original when he wins something,
i vote valentino rossi N.O. 1

I understand that points=championship, but do you think that Hayden deserved that title Dan? If you do then think of my example because it is all down to your luck and how the bike runs. Im not saying that they are bad riders, but if your bike has failed, then theres nothing you can do about it until the next race, where you make up for the points you lost. Yes it is down to points but i was asking who people thought deserved the win if all of those crashes hadn't of happened. I wasn't really asking if you thought if the rider with the most of points should win because that was obviously Hayden.

Basically, it's down to how the rider and his bike rode

then yes, the winner of the championship deserved it.. riding a different Honda compared to all the other honda riders and having cluth problems at pretty much every weekend..

ofcourse i would have prefered Rossi to have won.. but he was beaten by the better man this year, simple

sorry if i sounded too near the point its just im young and i have a lot of ways to express my views. But i wouldn't say he was beaten by a 'better' man though because, although he is regularly on the podium, he doesn't really win as much. If you get where im coming from, i think that Rossi deserved it, but due to a lot of crashes and bike difficulties, he lost a lot of points. But if there was a man of the year, then it would have to be Rossi because he won back those 50-odd points and came so close to winning the championship again.

for all i would much rather rossi had won - i think Hayden 'deserved' the title if for nothing more than his consistancy.

it's a cliche but..... 'if you wanna be the fastest guy over the line - first you've gotta cross the line....'

and on a lot of occassions this year - rossi simply didn't make the finish line and i think only one of those occassion was down to rider error - the rest was down to bad luck (or ...... tyres/bike)

he fought back from a huge points disadvantage to take the lead with one race to spare - only to piss his chances up the wall.

what i'm trying to say is that - if rossi had won - it would have been a monumental AND WELL DESERVED victory but - as it happens - "mr consistant won. "

nothing wrong with that - good luck to nicky - put it just doesn't light my fire.

fair point, but do you think that it is down do how well the riders and bikes raced or how many points they got?

to win points - you've gotta ride well BUT

you DON'T have to be entertaining and exciting to watch

clearly

<

lol i think i get what u meant, but i am trying to prove to Dan that it isn't about points, its about the way you ride. They way you ride gets you points, so i think i have proved my point, its just down to who agrees

hmm this is hard...

They have both been consistant all season just that Rossi has been having the more bad luck.

I really think Rossi deserves this.

Now I'm not saying this just because he is my favourite rider
<
but because he has had so many up and downs. And for him to crash out of races and then at near the end of the seaon to really hit back and get soo close to winning the championship, that for me thinks he deserves it more.
