What's Wrong with the Ducati?

It did look to be a hell of a lot smoother but still pushing a little, I think it is important to remember that they tested here before the race, but they look to have taken a big step. Can we finally get excited about possibly having another competitive set of bikes on the grid? To bad they'll only have 4th place riders next year.

I don't know about that, Dovi hasn't been a stranger to the podium this year.

Correct. Not only Ducati tested at Misano recently, but because of the weather conditions the others could not use FP1 and FP2 this weekend. And Vale decided to take a few more risks today, to maximize these favorable circumstances. We'll need to wait and see the upcoming races to confirm this (apparently) good step forward by Ducati.

Rossi Luck.

Expect Duc to be back just ahead of its sister CRTs next event. Imagine a GP event, where only the Duc rider was allowed to participate in FP1-2. That is what in effect happened. They came in with a setting having just had a test there, while the rest of the field had no such luck due to the weather. Something similar happened at Mugello. Rossi's results mistook as form, combined with a few other nuanced circumstances, including one such replacement rider as contrast, has caused a few to erroneously consider VR's performance as cause for adjustment of previously held opinion. Context. Most often missed by even the best of us.

This reminds me of a saying we have in American stick and ball sports, you can teach anyone to catch a ball, but you can't teach speed. Dovi hasn't got the speed to hang with the aliens, but sure he can ride.

After todays' tests at Misano, Hayden praised the new frame and said it improves the front end feel greatly, and reduces the understeer. So the step forward for Ducati received a confirmation, now next race will tell if it's fact.

I hope they have got it right, it will be cool for Ducati to be competitive again.

All this "he took more risk" talk is ......... Are you him? No. Maybe you had a heart rate monitor to distinguish "risk" moments to normal heart rates, did he tell you he was more daring?

Define how you ascertain "And Vale decided to take a few more risks today"

He definatley did you could see it in his body language all race long.

As soon as JB and VR walk out of Ducati on 11.11.12....the bike will stop any progress it has made during the second half of season.....

During the quick Valencia test.....Dovi will say 'Destra, destra, destra', Hayden will say 'left, you gotta pretty mouth, left, left', and Spies' mom will say more money money money, and Iannone will say 'i should have stayed in moto2'....

Now I should tell you that yes, I heard it from him with my own ears because I was there and of course understand Italian pretty well; but I doubt that saying that would appease your barbed wire diffidence. Anyway if you care, watch the start and the first corner, a well known tricky point of Misano, where nobody likes to take too many risks especially on cold tires. Chatting after the race he defined his start 'una partenza mostruosa', a monster start, and in fact he gained 3 positions and was second at the second corner. Then see how he left Bradl and the others behind when the tires began to wear out. He said, 'giro dopo giro mi sono caricato per non farmi prendere da quelli dietro' = 'lap after lap I charged myself to avoid being caught by those behind me'. Does that imply taking a little more risk? You decide...

Of course he did that because he knew he had a chance to podium that day.

Yeah I did notice the start, and he got away pretty well.

Overall he rode the race that was required, Bradl was never going to win a prolonged battle, he was able to maintain the gap to third. Yet he was never under any real attack.

The tone of my response was a bit harsh, I apologise, i was on the juice.I think it has a little to do with the general vibe if this place. I will endeavor to be a nicer calmer person in future exchanges.

I would say VR & JB have nothing to do with it. I think a few days with Furusawa is where the big step has come from. From the interviews it is fairly clear he gave them a solid general knowledge of how he designs/balances a chassis. By the change it looks like they pretty much got it right at the first attempt. Just like in 2004 the true genius is the Japanese Engineer.

It is possible the current iteration preceded that.
