Hi all,

My name is Jamie Botham, and i am a Sport Management student undergoing my final year at Sheffield Hallam university.

For my dissertation project i am looking to examine the motivational profile of MotoGP fans.

I would very much appreciate it if you could take 5 minute to fill out this short questionnaire as part of my research.

Please only complete this questionnaire if:
-You are a resident of the UK
-You are aged 16+
-You have an interest in MotoGP (obvious i know but it has to be said)

If you are interested in finding out more about my research, or gaining access to results, then please dont hesitate to send me a message on here, or contact me at: [email protected]

No point asking an Englishmen (I include Scots and Welsh in the mix) anything except where to find a decent curry.

Dissertation...as in 'doctorate'?

Geez, to live in the UK.

Oh I get it, its a psychiatric paper regarding the strange cultic mind of Rossi worshippers (God knows there's only about 3 non-Rossi fans in the UK).

(good luck buddy)

My apologies for not introducing myself, not very nice i realise
<
, but have added a little edit to it to fix this. I appreciate you pointing that out cheers DRILL

Nooo nothing against anyone, ideally i would have liked to do include fans of all ages and outside the UK as well, but due to pretty major time restraints, i was told to just focus on the UK population.

The point you make Jumkie is actually one of the areas that i am looking at for my work, to see what would happen to the sport in the UK when Rossi finally makes an exit from the sport.

Two thirds of the participants on this forum will become extinct and the British GP will revert to its former attendance comprising one man and a dog, an ice cream van, and a few ancient crusty's in denim cut offs festooned with enamel badges, and embroidered 'heron' and 'BSA' patches.

i'll do it when i get to work anyone point next week. But i warn you i am no normal person

The lads are right though - rossi goes attendance will fall. But it needs a pretty boy 2 keep the fans. Spies maybe the guy but hes gotta be doing the results straight off. If Crutchlow makes it in for a season in the future then that'll be good for gb venue. Id hope fans of rossi would stay though and support a new rider.

Arabi, ur awesome dude! Freaking hilarious.

J. Both, thanx for choosing this topic, i'll b very interested to check it out. Btw, if ur getting a docterate out of this then u should stck around come race time. The freaks come out to add to the ones that stayed on during off season. Again good luck.

Cheers Jumkie. Emmm sadly no i'm not not quite at the stage of doctorate yet, just finishing off my honours degree first. I',m glad i've been able to look at this topic though, i have found it all very interesting, looking at different parts of the sport from different perspectives and just general research into the history of it all. shame that since its just for my hons degree, i am pretty restricted to what i can include due to time constraints and funds. always chance of doing a doctorate a few years down the line though after i've managed to fit in a few other traveling related goals i want to achieve first. The bad part from all this, is that it is very fast draining me of my hard earned savings put aside for a shiny(ish), new(not so much) 2-wheeled toy
<
, so looks like ill be sticking with the baby bandit for a good while yet

.....long may it live!!!

Done the survey, lot of repeated questions though
<

yea i know the sections containing sets of statements do contain very similar worded questions, which i know makes it appear less than good or exciting, put its just part of the process i apparently have to do through to get the results. Sets of different statements do get grouped together, so are meant to mean similar things. Since i am an undergraduate, i cant just present my own set of statements and say that they will produce a valid set of results. so, my dissertation supervisor said that i had to take similar structured statements used in other published research papers as part of their developed scales. These researchers had the luxury of being able to generate and validate their question statements through several months of pre-testing and re-designing, something which I sadly don't have. From looking through a series of similar type research, i took the core aspects from the type of statements that they were asking, and adapted them to make them more appropriate for MotoGP.

so yes i do apologise that the statements do appear repetitive, but it is just what I have to do to cover the basic starting points for the research. Thanks very much for taking the time anyway
