Spies was injured. The go ok at the start then slow down as the race progressed is a classic symptom of trying to ride injured.

Is that official? I didn't here him say he was injured during the interview. But I guess that's probably the only explanation at this point.

He said that's what happens when you ride a bike that's been wrecked twice and have no back up chassis.

Maybe we could start a thread for lap 1 then another thread for lap 2 and so on......

There is a race thread to discuss what happened in the race.

after the race Spies tweeted "That's what happens when u ride a bike that's been crashed twice."

maybe the bike wasn't quite back straight.

doesn't work .......... a bent bike is a bent bike and doesn't change characteristics from the beginning of the race to the end ........... the riders ability to cope with it could however. Hence maybe he meant it got hard to cope/ride with a bent bike as time goes on.? I could see how this would be compounded to appear far worse if Spies was injured.

Arm pump did that Tom....

Haha, there is something ...... there, even the exhaust was slapping around!

Great link, Tom. That explains a lot.

Looks almost like they left out an axle spacer or two.

Is that footage actually from the race? Would explain a lot if it is, just asking because there is footage from prac / quali.

Its just chatter at the rear there ........ could just be the way he is hitting that corner ( on the verge of the rear tyre lifting off as he is cornering), could even have been sand on the track causing it, but it could also be the new BS's. Either way when you are injured its harder to go on with it.

Damn that is woeful crew work that - explains it all for Race 1 but I'm afraid young Pieman is keeping the seat warm for Dovi in 2013.

Sorry are you sure you don't mean Cal?

Good question. I assumed it was from practice since the clip of his fall followed the vibration footage...
