Given that Tech3 will probably use Michelin like the factory team what is going to happen to Dunlop?

They've done a great job this year and it would be sad to see them go.

At first I thought a team like LCR could use Dunlop's cash and it would be interesting as we could compare Dunlop with Michelin and Bridgestone as there would be Honda with the three rubbers.

But today I read that Aspar says they were approached by Dunlop to make a team to run a Yamaha. Apparently Yamaha was ready to supply a fifth bike for Dunlop but sadly the Spaniard has said he's not interested.

So what now for Dunlop?

continue to supply the smaller classes.

new regulations for the smaller classes with 4 stroke action should kick in in a few years.
i say stay in the smaller classes, get more experience on 4 stroke and what-not when they get introduced then try it at this level later on.

maybe they could have done better with better riders, maybe bikes? the yamaha is no slouch but we know tamada and guintoli arent the best in the field to carry this much of a burden for the company.

yup your probably right, bit of a shame tho as dunlops aint been that far behind michelin this season, i hope someone signs them.

Yes, compared to the Michelin they weren't that far and don't forget that Dunlop means also a nice amount of cash.

LCR or Montiron/Scot would be foolish not to think about it.

Just another thing about Dunlop, does Tech3 knows anything about image?

Look at the livery of the bike this year:

Look at what it could have been:

and I agree about LCR or Monitron going with Dunlop (if in fact Dunlop are still interested in MotoGP) ... Dunlop have a clear advantage with the current tyre rules in place and also have another season of development. Some of that development would translate from the Yamaha to Honda. Also, it's not as if LCR is flush with sponsorship dollars!

imo dunlop need a top rider to develop tires. something they've been lacking. checa seem to make the most of them last season. i wonder how fast donlop would be able to improve with a rider like rossi or el primo tire tester edwards even?

And what on earth will we do in our fantasy league teams without that third budget option?! Hopefully dovi's team will go for them or team roberts just to stay alive. Could Dovi see a positive in Dunlops because 250s use them and he's used to them?
