Watching Motogp from the website

Hello all, new here.

I stumbled across the 'copying motogp media' thread, which prompted my question: I'm wondering how effective watching material from the motogp website is, ie resolution, compression /quality in general, also how much data is downloaded say per hour?

I'm giving the satellite service the flick, and there's always free to air, but I love watching qualifying etc and this seems to be the only way to get it (in Aus at least.) So, I'd like to know what people think of this service. It seems clear already from the earlier thread that navigation leaves a bit to be desired.

Looking forward to motgp chat with fellow enthusiasts.

Welcome to the site first of all. Secondly, I have a MotoGP account and I am pretty happy. As far as picture quality goes, it's pretty decent. Although it's rather small, no larger than 1/4 of a window, don't know a resolution off the top of my head. All live sessions from each European rounds and live racing at all events. I'm not sure if qualy is live at all events or not, I usually don't have the opportunity to watch live. Each session is recorded in its entirety for your viewing but generally not until a few hours after. I wish some things were different but what can you do? Overall, I'm pretty pleased. Hope that helped some. Cheers.

Does anyone know how to watch the races off of the official site without going to the front page? I went to watch the race (Sachsenring) this weekend, purposely not reading who won and bam soon as i went to motogp.com there is picture of rossi doing his post race interview along with a pic of the podium. I was soooo pissssed.

Whats funny was watching the end of the race i was still all excited when marco went for the outside pass on the last lap even though i still knew he wasn't going to pulll it off.

So back to the question.... any thoughts on how to watch the race without the results being spoiled.

Cheers

Crazyc welcome,
To not spoil a race for yourself, cover the screen with something, thats what I do
login, videos, full race videos and then call up the race you want.
For watching FULL SCREEN, call up the race or interview you want to
watch, when it loads on the right hand side of the screen put your
mouse in the middle of that screen and left click to ACTIVATE CONTROL,
then right click gives you a window, go to ZOOM, click it,FULL SCREEN,
get a beverage and watch NICKY WHOOP THE DOCTORS ... THIS WEEKEND

I would like to buy a new account but they dont accept Turkish credit cards. I dont know why but I must buy a new one !!!!

I have wondered if this was worth it....but I don't have High speed at home...so it's not quite worth it for me at this point.

High speed is definitely a must, I have DSL at the office and it struggles to keep up with live feeds. I mean, really struggles. Video for 10 seconds, stop, load for 20, video for 10 seconds. My cable at home works wonderfully though.

To add to that a line that pushes 1meg and above would be fine.

CrazyC I suggest going to the MotoGP videos page and use that as a bookmark, however you will still see the post race interviews amongst other stuff there, but will be better than the main page I guess.

being a huge GP fan and living in the states sucks!...

we have The Speed Channel, and it sucks. should be called the NASCAR NETWORK..

Is there no way you can get eurosport or BBC guys? I mean you guys in the states have a billion TV channels...............surley theres a way?

I looked into it and I couldn't get it. We get BBC America and I emailed them to see if they ever broadcast MotoGP on it and they told me no. The only coverage we can get on TV is Speed and now the USGP will be on ABC a week late.

Another nice feature in the live section is the timing tabels. You have several views to select from and can even see the split times. I often put that up in front of me when watching live on tv. It is especially usefull on the QP. You really get a lot better impression without studying the pdf tables afterwards.

The timing of the feed compared with the Eurosport broadcast differ a little. At the last race it was very good. It was a couple of seconds ahead of the broadcast.

The live timing can be hard to find. click on the live Live Coverage and you will find the Live Timing there.

Hello all, newb to the forum here, go easy on me. Glad I stumbled across it. Thank you for the info about ABC running the race 1 week late. I kept looking on my cable menu and was goin nuts - they have something like "That's So Raven" in the time slot for this Sunday. I'm trying to recruit more fans, how embarassing if I told them to watch ABC Sunday afternoon, only to see THAT show, ugh. I HOPE the rebroadcast is in HD, that'd be a first. Dang I wish we could get better coverage here in the U.S. SPEED channel is good, but sooooo many commercials and not in HD. Anyway, just wanted to drop a quick post. Looking forward to Laguna!

I watch the Friday second practice session and the QP online. I love the Live timing. The quality is ok. I mean if you keep the window small, it's small but looks ok. On full screen it's all a bit more watery. If I'm home I'll connect the laptop to my projector et voila, big screen viewing in 2 seconds and the picture doesn't look half as bad as I had expected it would. There is a slight delay from Eurosport most of the time, though last weekend it was ok. It's usually about a minute behind. The best thing about this is if you're stuck somewhere (like Malaysia where they don't broadcast motogp and it costs something like maybe £7 to get into the sepang circuit to watch the race cos otherwise the locals wouldn't bother turning up) then you sit in your hotel room and glue yourself to your laptop!

it won't matter, cause the basterds at ABC are airing the GP race a WEEK after the race!!!
