VIP Village - is it worth it?

Hi folks,

I am planning the bi annual trip to Jerez again this year, gotta say 2006 was an absolute nightmare with traffic etc.......7 hours from the track to hotel in Jerez town on the Sat!!

so I am contemplating going the whole hog and getting VIP village tickets and also someone else to do the accomodation/driving part.

So the questions are;

has anyone done this before? How did you find the experience.
is it worth the money?
What companies have provided you with the service etc?

We are looking to start a family soon (so I'm told!) and this may be our last attendence to a motogp in a couple of years, so feel like going out with a bang....any info appreciated

As you can see from the absence of responses, not too many people can dream about getting VIP status at a race. Hell, I'm happy if I get into the gate. Its your money, if you got it, spend it, we aren't taking a dime to heaven/hell when we die.

just think about it intuitively.

What's the marginal value of the VIP expense for a wealthy person? --next to nothing.

What is the utility gain to a wealthy person of being a VIP, getting ritzy service, and being able to thumb your noses at the commoners while you rub shoulders with other elites? --probably high

Unless you are an extremely status conscious member of the middle or upper middle society you will receive nothing from the additional money spent except a few weeks of bragging rights. (you can make people jealous without handing your money to race organizers)

If you like fresh experiences and constant change, it might be worth it.

Pricing is all microeconomics.

Perception and marketing are 9/10ths of utility you think you will get, because nothing is as good as you can imagine it.

Unless you're loaded, sit in the grass.

See you probably didn't want me to answer.

hey getitupya. i have done the vip village ( assen & laguna seca) & in my oppinion it's well worth it. don't let these trogladites convince you otherwise! the food was fantastic & you can drink to your hearts content at the bar all day if you want. it's relaxed & full of other fanatical fans. your usualy right over the pits at the start line and you can watch the race on cctv if you want. pit lane walks paddock tours it's all good! it was well worth the $. so much so that i'll be attending the indy gp this year at the vip village!

Thanks Frosty!
That was what I was looking for, an honest opinion from someone who had done the VIP bit before. You have helped me make my decision.

As for mylexicons reply, well, I wasnt asking did he think it was moraly right, I suggest when issuing that type of reply/rant, that perhaps you read the question first! Had you being drinking??

That's what I was trying to say without coming right out with it.

Who said anything about morality. I was just talking about pricing strategy, marginal utility, and the incongruence between marketing and actual product.
