Looks like their clutching at straws here:

Valentino Rossi thinks that adjusting his riding position might be one of the next avenues for Ducati to explore as it strives to get its bike on the pace.

The seven-time MotoGP champion has only one podium to show for his maiden Ducati season so far, despite a string of major changes to the bike including bringing forward the 2012 chassis and switching to a part-aluminium frame at Aragon last weekend.

The latter change was inconclusive, with Rossi feeling the bike had improved slightly, but only able to finish 10th in the race amid tyre issues and following a pitlane start.

Now he is wondering whether his riding position should be next on Ducati's list - suggesting that he is getting less straightline speed out of the bike than predecessor Casey Stoner had.

"We're losing in some quite strange areas," said Rossi.

"For example, compared to Stoner we are a lot slower on the straights, with the same bike as we had from the first test.

"We need to understand this because maybe this riding position is more suitable for the shorter and smaller rider than the taller rider like me or like Nicky [Hayden]. We have to understand if we can improve it."

Rossi said his issues with the riding position were clear to see on television.

"I don't feel very comfortable on the bike, so we've already thought of something to move the weight and if you look at me on the television, I don't ride like in the past," he said. "It's quite clear from outside."

He admitted that Ducati did not seem to be getting closer to resolving its issues so far.

"We worked in a lot of different ways but it looks like we didn't fix a lot," said Rossi.

"We continued to be quite slow. Apart from some good races we are not consistent, and it looks like we haven't fixed the problem."

Im just going to call ........, they are making .... up as they go.

Its in black and white for everyone to see. The 2011 Ducati has been faster in a straight line in all but a few races, sometimes much faster.

Here are a few examples on some of the super fast straights in GP

Qatar

2010 = 322

2011 = 324

Catalunya

2010= 324

2011 = 328

Mugello

2010 = 330.

2011 = 336

Indy

2010 =312

2011 = 318

Aragon =2010

2010 = 320

2011 = 329

Me thinks Valentino is in CYA mode.

Methinks Pov's right. This is just so much BS and blame deflection.

Nicky's bitching, JB hints at bailing, and Rossi has never been shy about throwing people under the bus. Does anyone else get the impression that the inevitable Team Ducati implosion has truly begun?

Near as I can tell, Nicky averaged ~3 KPH faster at Aragon this year vs. 2010, and Rossi's 2011 speed trap numbers are a few KPH faster than Stoner's from last year.

The numbers are easy enough to find: http://www.motogp.co...ults+Statistics

Its a rehashing of the suggestion that Pedro Stoner has some advantage for being a midget.

The numbers, they lie.

not read the article but

Rossi / Duc STFU

So now Donald Ducs problems are down to how he has a ride

geez a tried most postions posible in my time having a ride and it was all GOOD

TRY IT

FFS

has Bernie got his hands on this sport now it does feel like it

To my mind, when Ducati and Stoner found a 'big improvement' last year it was at Aragon with moving the riding position forward. The result? 3 wins in a row. So far this aluminium frame has not shown the leap in performance thats needed or expected so I for one don't expect much of it for the rest of 2011.

Lies lies and more lies ! The mans desperate to cling onto what little pride he has left..

He is faster at every circuit this year on the straights, that is not the reason ! He is trying to make the bike easier for everyone to ride fast, lies ! he is looking out for himself thus is evident with nicky not getting the same mods as the great one..

I thought this was motogp with the best of the best on board. This is the pinnacle class for elite riders to show their worth ! If the goal is for all bikes to be "easily ridden by all" then why dont we just go to a production bike class where every ones on the exact same bike.... Im guessing they wont be ducs !

I read a quote from somewhere maybe duc and vale can take something from it...

"if you are only willing to do what comes easy life will be hard, if you are willing to do what comes hard life will be easy"

Hes on to something..........................or maybe not

Whoopsy Nicky and Casey are simliar height.

Does this now mean Uccio gets a turn on top??

Its all tinkering until they wack the twin spar aluminium frame on it..................................

with the same bike as we had from the first test.

Did everybody just choose not to read this part?

"For example, compared to Stoner we are a lot slower on the straights,

Same bike. Nothing to do with the hand controlling the throttle? Or the brake. The feet, the arse. Was it the ecu?

How about this: (guess who the riders are)

"Unfortunately, in the race the rear tyre was sliding much more than it did in practice. It was almost used up just when I was catching Nicky and his group."

"I think everyone was struggling with tyres to some degree, but the bike was fantastic and I don't mind when the bike slides around a little!"

Quote 1: Rossi (another lame excuse)

Quote 2: Pedrosa (it would seem unusual to be coming from him)

That 2nd quote was from Stoner not Dani.

Yes you are right...got it mixed up with this quote of Danis....

"The second half of the race I was sliding the whole time and I had some fun, but it was a shame not to be closer to Casey"

Sorry Curve, getting a little carried away there. Dont ever forget 2008. Written off by all only to come back from the dead. Man will there be some egg on face if that happens next year.................

It has already been noted by many commentators, that the statement about max speed made by Rossi is plain wrong. Maybe he mixed up things, or read the speed sheet upside down, -- but I do not think it was an intentional lie. It would have been stupid, since max speed is so easy to check. And the man is not stupid... Anyway, this kind of confusion is not a good sign.
