Rog, im at the track today, trying to figure out how to back it in of course, but anyway, did Lorenzo voice a complaint on SimoncHelli? (keeping track of thread on fone).

No, it was Lorenzo trying to pull off a hard move on CimonsHelli and nearly comming a cropper.

It's good to know I can always count on Humkie and Hoppperman to give the right response.

Yuki Takahashi has got the hottest seat in Moto2 taking over from Elias at Gresini. Team-mate will be Michele Pirro

Jorge Lorenzo reckons he's almost certain to run the number one plate in 2011.

I'll be surprised if Takahashi does all that much better than he did in 2010. It wasn't the bike

- it was Elias.

BTW, I don't get why some peeps are calling Lorenz's helmet gay. I thought it looked cool.

Rossi bids farewell to Yamaha from the podium

http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2010/Rossi+reacts+to+final+podium+with+Yamaha

Valentino Rossi’s final race for Fiat Yamaha produced one last podium as the Italian took third place at Valencia on Sunday, sealing the same position in the Championship in the process.

Starting from the second row Rossi dropped to ninth going into turn one, but recovered swiftly to join the front pack where he eventually settled into third position and crossed the finish line for an 84th and last podium with Yamaha, thus bringing the curtain down on a seven-year spell which has yielded 46 wins and four World Championships.

"Honestly I'm happy with this final result with Yamaha, because we had a difficult weekend here. I didn't get a good start but I realised straight away that I was much faster today and that my bike felt good. At one point I thought I might be able to win but in the later part of the race I just didn't have enough strength to stay with Lorenzo and Stoner, this is a very hard track when you're not completely fit,” said Rossi. “Arriving on the podium was my way to say thank you to my bike, to Yamaha and to all the people who have worked with me in these seven seasons.”

“It's been a great experience and I have enjoyed it so much. 46 is a great number of wins - of course I wanted more but I think I can be happy with what I have done here. We have finished the season strongly with five podiums in a row and after such a difficult season we can feel happy about how we have ended. It's been a wonderful seven years, great fun with a special atmosphere, many fantastic victories and four World Championships. I stopped with my bike after the race today just like I did at Welkom when this story began, it was the right way to say goodbye to ‘her'. Thank you to everyone, we have wonderful memories."

The Italian took third place and his 84th Yamaha rostrum finish, in his last race with the Fiat Yamaha team.

Probably the best motogp race of the season, some great passing, some spectacular viewing with bikes moving around and so much to look forward to next year. Lorenzo was obviously expected a slightly softer reception from Marco, good on him for giving nothing up because Lorenzo wasn't nearly through. But damn i thought he was off. In the end it didn't matter though, Lorenzo showed everyone today that he is the best rider out there, passing them all and winning the race well. Great end to a great season for Jorge

BTW, I don't get why some peeps are calling Lorenz's helmet gay. I thought it looked cool.

Because it looks like it would be perfect to wear while driving this car?

A few days ago i read that, that was promissed to Sofuoglu.

http://motomatters.com/news/2010/11/06/kenan_sofuoglu_signs_for_technomag_cip_m.html

As we wrote yesterday in our Moto2 round-up story, the Moto2 silly season is in full swing, with so many rides up in the air and so many riders still chasing seats. One of the biggest logjams has been Kenan Sofuoglu, the 2010 World Supersport champion having been in demand with a large number of teams, especially after his astonishing debut at the rain-soaked round at Estoril last weekend.

But on Saturday, that logjam cleared, when it emerged that Kenan Sofuoglu had agreed to ride for the Technomag CIP team for the 2011 season. The signing came as something as a surprise, as Sofuoglu came close to signing a deal with the Gresini Moto2 squad to replace departing Moto2 champion Toni Elias, but the deal was called off at the last moment after Gresini came up with a list of additional demands. Sofuoglu's preference had been to ride a Moriwaki, which is why the Turk was talking to Gresini, but an intervention from Suter chassis maker Eskil Suter helped change Sofuoglu's mind. In the end, Sofuoglu elected to stay with the Technomag squad, who have welcomed him in as replacement to Shoya Tomizawa, who was tragically killed at Misano. The announcement was met with a round of applause in the Technomag garage as Sofuoglu entered this morning.

With Sofuoglu signed, a flurry of deals is now likely to be done. Gresini have been talking to Sofuoglu's former WSS teammate Michele Pirro, and are reportedly in talks with former MotoGP rider Mika Kallio. Meanwhile, Yuki Takahashi is looking like the favorite for the second Jack&Jones ride alongside Kenny Noyes, after having been the most likely candidate to take the Technomag ride if Sofuoglu had gone to Gresini. Sunday night - the night before the first Moto2 test of the 2011 season - will be a very busy night for the Moto2 teams, as they try and nail down deals with the available riders.

Wonder what the additional demands were

Watched from a feed in Spanish....they talked more about Pedrosa than Lorenzo! Jorge did a fantastic job! Truly one of his best races ive seen yet.

I'm curious as to how the general Spanish bike fans and community currently regard Pedrosa and Lorenzo? I mean, after Jorge's stunning Championship and rookie year, I'm supposing he is now the Numero Uno there, but I hear from some Spanish factions that there are still more Pedrosa fans in general? Any Spanish fans here who can help?

Anyway, I had a heart-in-throat moment when the camera panned to Hayden's crash and the commentator went, "That's terrible...did Pedrosa cause that?" I had to hold my breath until I confirmed from the replays that he wasn't involved. ......... commentator making me sweat.
<

Respect to Lorenzo, flawless season from him. Ben did a superb job to finish 4th and school Dovi and Simoncelli in the process.

Roll on 2011!
<

That move on Simoncelli is going to come back to haunt him when next he whines about rough racing.

The stupidity of it was nearly expunged by the brilliance of the save. Seeing that save in slow-motion

takes the breath away.

My picture kept freezing up - so I missed the best part of the race - which was all the passing between

Spies, Dovi and Simocelli - which I just watched on replay. That was some great last minute action.

Strangely - since I'm a known "hater" I was disappointed that Rossi didn't kick Lorenzo's ... in Spain. I guess winning at Valencia is a bridge that Rossi has to cross.

And not to be the grammar police or anything but - why is it so many of you mofos keeps spelling Simoncelli

with a non-existent "H"???

Lorenzo's "save" (there's nothing one can actually save in those situations, it's all in the hands of god, or of ballistic physics if you are an atheist) was the final divine seal on his perfect season.

BTW, I don't get why some peeps are calling Lorenz's helmet gay. I thought it looked cool.

I agree it's not gay. It's more Colombian druglord kitsch style. Just like Elias' all-chrome mirror-polished bike that ended up in the gravel after a typical Elias "overtaking" attempt.
<

Btw, Lorenzo's helmet was very, very close to scatter all of its Swarowski crystals into the kitty litter as well, just as he was trying to demonstrate how easy it is to "do a Rossi" on Simoncelli, without crashing. He perfectly demonstrated just how easy it is
<

He perfectly demonstrated just how easy it is

He demonstrated that in his current form he can ride through the field just like Rossi at his best. He can pass and outride everyone at a track where rides like that are notoriously difficult. It all started with the Simoncelli mistake but it turned into a display of superiority

Stoner made the wrong tyre choice otherwise he may have been half a lap ahead by the time Lorenzo came through. All of the aliens came demonstrate superiority on their day. Lorenzo just did it more than the others this year.

From what you say it seems we have a rider superior to all others. I disagree. I have said it before, I can repeat it here: Lorenzo is not a superior rider to Stoner or Rossi (or even Pedrosa). All is good and he's deserved his title, but declaring him the best is stretching reality. He has had his perfect year, like Stoner in 2007 -- that's all.
