ADDITIONAL QUOTES FROM VALENTINO ROSSI, MASAO FURUSAWA AND LIN JARVIS

Valentino Rossi

“This is a very emotional day but I’m very happy as well because I don’t have any regrets and there have been no bad moments or thoughts throughout these seven seasons together with Yamaha. From the beginning it was something great and we worked very well together.

Like in life, in sport the results are crucial but just as important is the enjoyment and we had this at Yamaha.

We had a great fusion in my team – the Australians, the Italians, the Japanese, the English and many more…a lot of people all together having fun.

If in 2004 somebody had told me that I would win four world championships with Yamaha and 46 Grand Prix I would have signed in blood!

I am happy. I have to thank first of all Masao Furusawa because we went through some difficult moments but we were able to improve the bike and make it the best machine, then I just have to say a big thank you to everybody who helped me in these seven seasons, and wish everyone good luck.”

Masao Furusawa

“I would like to thank Valentino very much, I started in MotoGP in 2003 and it was a terrible year, it was almost like I was in hell!

I really wanted to make the YZR-M1 a better bike but the more investigated it, the more I realised I needed something else, more than the bike.

So we found Valentino Rossi.

First of all I didn’t believe Valentino would come to Yamaha because the bike wasn’t great but somehow it worked. After South Africa in 2004 I felt like I was in heaven, it was a very exciting and memorable year.

In 2004 Valentino was the only one who could win on the YZR-M1 so he contributed a lot to developing the bike.

This year not only Valentino but also three other riders were fast so it’s clear that our YZR-M1 is a pretty good bike.

This is mainly because of Valentino’s contributions over the years so I really appreciate that and I want to wish him all the best in the future.”

Lin Jarvis

“In 2003 when we had our worst year ever in GP racing and finally we said that whatever we were going to do, without Valentino Rossi on the seat it wasn’t going to work!

That was the point where we decided that we needed him.

There were some exciting and secretive negotiations with Valentino and it was a very important decision but, with the backing of Masao Furusawa and the President of Yamaha Motor Company, we made it happen.

It was ‘do or die’. With a huge commitment from Yamaha, the engineers and everybody in the team we made it work.

We are very, very grateful because Valentino’s arrival really turned things around for Yamaha and we came back to victorious ways. We are incredibly thankful and grateful to him for that. We’ve had so many exciting and enjoyable moments with him and with the crew that he brought with him, who are great guys.

Today we will be saying goodbye to a great number of people including Davide Brivio, Jerry Burgess and the whole crew.

We’ve had a super time, it’s been a really excellent team and we will miss them tomorrow, it will be a strange day.”

Dominant win to close out a dominant season. Thought Lorenzo was done when he about binned it. He didnt lose a lot of time, but on that track, seconds are hard to make up. Gained a lot of respect for Dani today. Spies will be a semi alien on the factory bike, but the top 4 are still in a different class The second half of the season went as expected. Lorenzo with the big lead went into protection mode, secured the title, then stamped his dominance on the field, winning the last 2 races. I am probably looking forward to next year as much as any season in memory. As of right now, if i was going to bet on next years champ, i wouldnt have a clue. My gut says Lorenzo, but Stoner on the Honda keeps pulling me in that direction. An Injury free Pedro could make them all look silly, and then you have the complete unknown of a motivated Rossi on the Duc, a much better machine than the Yamaha when he made the switch 7 years ago. I am giddy about Tuesday and Wednesday's test.

Rog, im at the track today, trying to figure out how to back it in of course, but anyway, did Lorenzo voice a complaint on SimoncHelli? (keeping track of thread on fone).

Hats off to Lorenzo,383 points is pretty good.

I really thought Stoner would run away with it,but i guess Lorenzo plus package was a bit too much.As said 383 points takes more than a good bike and team probarbly.Fantastic effort from Lorenzo!

No, it was Lorenzo trying to pull off a hard move on CimonsHelli and nearly comming a cropper.

The way he was ranting I thought Pedrosa had parked him or something. He wanted a podium bad and you could see that, lots of emotion, but you know maybe Nick needs to bin it more to find the limits???

Good on Jorge, he definitely earned the championship.

I hope during testing we have similiar conditions to what we had all weekend so that we get a good comparision of lap times.

Roll on 2011!

Yuki Takahashi has got the hottest seat in Moto2 taking over from Elias at Gresini. Team-mate will be Michele Pirro

Jorge Lorenzo reckons he's almost certain to run the number one plate in 2011.

I don't think I've said Rossi crashed under pressure in regards to Lorenzo. But I would agree with this assessment given that they were both in a title fight at the time.

Did you hear Nicky's talk about the crash during the race? I think he told his crew, yo I'm gonna win or its coming back in pieces. I doubt it had anything to do with Spies, as Nicky needs podiums. I think he conceded 6th place for a podium finish because I think in Nicky's estimation, another 4th was unbearable. I think it was self imposed pressure. If he was riding to secure the 6th, he would have rode less aggressive I think.

no i didn't hear his interview, but i just read : Hayden vows not to dwell on crash on autosport.

Yes he wanted badly to finish on podium, but i think he cared about finishing in front of Spies, since theyr both American.

A few days ago i read that, that was promissed to Sofuoglu.

Reigning World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu will switch to the Moto2 series in 2011 after signing with the Technomag-CIP squad at the Valencia MotoGP round yesterday.

Sofuoglu, who took his second WSS title with the Ten Kate Honda outfit at Magny-Cours last month, made his debut with the team at Estoril and led before his tyre fell to pieces.

"First of all I would like to thank the teams who spoke to me regarding a possible cooperation for the 2011 season. I am honoured that I received some very interesting offers from teams who won championships in the past, and for me it was a difficult decision.,” said the Turk.

“At the end, the deciding factor was the eagerness of the team Technomag-CIP to continue Shoya’s dream and become world champion in 2011. I am looking forward to work with Gilles Bigot and his team which, in my opinion, provide a perfect combination of experience and ambition.”

Stoner never expected to dominate

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88031

"We started that race and things felt a little bit difficult with the bike," Stoner said.

"Things may have looked good yesterday in qualifying and practice but we knew we were far from where we wanted to be.

"So we tried everything in the morning warm-up, couldn't find a good solution and for the race it was kind of similar. We weren't really running the lap times we thought we could."

Lorenzo had fallen as low as seventh as he diced with Marco Simoncelli in the opening laps, and Stoner reckoned that should have been enough to rule the Spaniard out of victory contention had the Ducati's pace been slightly better.

"If we'd been running the lap times we thought we could, we might have been able to make a big enough gap to Jorge that with his trouble back in the pack he wouldn't have been able to catch us," said Stoner.

"But the way it worked out, he pulled me in, and for the rest of the race I just saw '+ 0, + 1' on my pit board and was just braking as late as I could trying to hold everybody off.

"I felt we did a good job. We were still running a good enough pace to pull away from the rest of the group, just Jorge was too fast and it was just a matter of time before he was going to pass me."

Stoner was still satisfied that he had given it everything in his last race of a four-year Ducati stint that has delivered 23 wins, 22 poles and the 2007 world title.

"My hat's off to Jorge, he deserves his world championship and this win today," said Stoner. "We did everything we could. Big thanks to Ducati for these last four years, it's been great."

Pramac signs de Puniet for 2011 (( by Matt Beer))

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88029

Randy de Puniet will remain in MotoGP next year having secured a ride with the Pramac Ducati team.

The 29-year-old Frenchman's move to Pramac had been anticipated since he lost his LCR seat to Moto2 champion Toni Elias, and it was confirmed by the team following today's Valencia Grand Prix.

"I am incredibly excited about this new adventure that will begin next year," said de Puniet. "I would like to thank the Pramac Racing team principal, Paolo Campinoti, for this great opportunity and the confidence that he has placed in me.

"I have worked with Italian teams in the past and I'm happy to continue for the next year.

"I would like to thank one by one the LCR team and Lucio Cecchinello with whom I shared wonderful years. I believe that they were my family and now I join a new family thanks to Pramac. I am looking forward to meet my Ducati."

De Puniet was with LCR for the past three years, taking a career-best of ninth in this season's championship despite breaking his leg in a crash at the Sachsenring. He had previously been a factory rider with Kawasaki.

Campinoti said he was thrilled to add de Puniet to the Pramac line-up, having already signed veteran Loris Capirossi from Suzuki.

"We all know Randy and we know his enormous value as a fighting rider, that has seen him fight with riders who were riding an official [works] bike," said Campinoti.

"He was often the first rider of the independent teams and he often finished the race before some official riders. We are confident that thanks to his quality, next year we'll have fun on all the tracks and take some satisfaction.

"With Randy and Loris we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pramac in MotoGP and to have such a strong pair of riders will be a real honour for us."

De Puniet and Capriossi will make their debuts with Pramac in next week's tests at Valencia.

The team's main 2010 riders Aleix Espargaro and Mika Kallio will not be in MotoGP next season. Espargaro has already secured a Moto2 seat and Kallio is expected to do likewise.

Rossi admits he still lacks fitness ((By Matt Beer))

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88032

Valentino Rossi said the continued effect of his shoulder injury was the main reason why he was unable to end his Yamaha career with a victory in the Valencia Grand Prix.

Although the former champion was right on leader Casey Stoner and eventual winner Jorge Lorenzo's tails for a while, he lost pace in the closing stages and finished in third place, eight seconds adrift.

He blamed his fading pace on a lack of strength, having suffered from the after-effects of a Motocross crash for most of the season. At one stage Rossi had considered ending his 2010 campaign early in order to have shoulder surgery to correct the problem, but ultimately decided to race on.

"At one point in the race I thought it was possible to win, when I was behind Casey," said Rossi. "But after Jorge arrived, he was better than anybody today and he deserved the race. He had a little bit better pace than us.

"Unfortunately like in Portugal, and here it was worse, I lost [physical] power for the last laps. I'm not at 100 per cent. I need too much effort to stop the bike on the last laps. I had to slow down a bit."

Rossi said he was still very satisfied to be able to say goodbye to Yamaha from the podium. He will join Ducati next season having taken 29 poles, won 46 races, and four world championships since moving to Yamaha from Honda in 2004.

"The podium is good for the last race with Yamaha and it was a great race for me compared to the bad practice," said Rossi.

"We improved the setting a lot for this afternoon. Unfortunately I missed the start but straightaway I could push a lot, I had great grip and I could do some overtaking.

"But this third place is good for saying 'thank you' to Yamaha for these great seven seasons and a lot of fun. It was a great, great experience."

Lorenzo celebrates 'greatest' win

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88030

By Matt Beer Sunday, November 7th 2010

Jorge Lorenzo declared his Valencia Grand Prix victory his 'greatest' race, after coming back from seventh place to beat Casey Stoner to the win.

The world champion had fallen to seventh during a fraught early battle with Gresini Honda's Marco Simoncelli, but once clear of the Italian rookie, Yamaha rider Lorenzo made rapid progress and overtook Stoner for the lead with six laps to go - despite Stoner having looked set to dominate for much of the weekend.

"Today has been the greatest race in all of my life - one of the most beautiful races for me," said Lorenzo.

"I had a good start but then in the second corner some riders overtook me, and then Simoncelli didn't give me any facility to go forward.

"But I kept calm, I stayed concentrated and on every lap I was improving.

"At the end we had a very good fight with Casey and I'm just so excited with this victory."

The result was Lorenzo's ninth win of his championship-winning season, and gives him a 2010 points tally of 383 - a new record for a rider in a single season.

Oh Jumkie Jumkie Jumkie
<

See here again is a post showing why you guys have no idea.....

Let me put it this way ......

If you are "trying to back it in", then you are nowhere ....... don't even bother lining up for a start .......

When you come back and say "I'm at the track and tying to stop the arse end coming around so much into the corners ...." you might be worth guidance, but until then
<
<
<

I suspect you are a few hundred laps from that really though yet
<

"Trying to back it in ....." never a sillier thing has been said
<
<
<

I'm still using that one as a bit of a giggle with a few chaps I know
<
Its just so far off the mark
