The race was ok, but nothing really going on in top 3 besides Stoner crashing...
Spies was just about exactly as fast as I predicted. Not quite a wizard yet, but impressive to finish 7th.
In fact, looks like he could have finished as high as 4th if he had been more confident during the first 10 laps of the race.

What a race from Spies, well impressed i think he will be chasing top 4 on ragular basis in his first season and will be fighting against them in 2011. As far as race is concern you have to give full marks to Valencia curcit for its consistency for producing boring racing every year. CS made the silly mistake otherwise i believe he had the pace to win this race.

I'm also impressed with Spies, not so much for the 7th position in itself (which would have been 8th had Stoner started in the race) but for the confidence with which he passed men like Dovi and De Puniet. The quality of those passes was very high, in a track where overtaking is never easy. A confidence a la Rossi. Chapeau

MotoGP race was not so exciting at the front with positions well defined, but the fight behind was quite interesting, I guess we were all curious to see how well could Spies do against his new rivals. And 7th is pretty damm good, justifies why Yamaha are swapping him for Toseland (though Colin is still the best American on the grid till proven otherwise).
Dani (1st) got his 2nd win of the season, at home in front of his fans, kudos to him (looking at where the rest of Hondas are it shows how hard it is to win on a Honda these days).
Rossi 2nd was ok, I guess he was just happy to beat Lorenzo infront of JLo's fans that probably hurt JLo more than his balls when he hit the tank.
Edwards 4th confirmed his status as best of the rest (on a satellite bike), I think he doesn't get as much credit as he deserves.
Nicky 5th was good, he started the season at embarrasing positions for a World Champion but his hard work and technician change payed off, and now he is a top 10 regular and there's a clear improvement trend. We'll see if it continues in 2010.
Elías 6th, again best satellite Honda, even beating the HRC one, it's sad he wont have a place in 2010 I think he really deserves it.
Spies 7th, very good debut on the Yamaha, 2010 rookie of the year? we'll see, with Simoncelli, Aoyama, Bautista and Barberá coming I think it's gonna be hell in the midfield, should be entertaining.
8th Dovi, very poor, not much else to say. If he doesn't improve in 2010 he's getting kicked out of HRC and deservedly IMO.

Simple reason. JTs abilities in riding is limited. Bens aren't. Comparing JT and Ben is like comparing Pele and Christiano Rolando. Once is a rising star and soon (hopefully) a legend, the other is a trend that will shine for a short period of time.

I didn't get to see the race. I heard it wasn't all that exciting so I don't seem like I missed anything. Except Stoner not starting. As for Ben, this is only the beginning. Its quiet sad that you other than my self are the only one who believes he can run in the top 5 next year.
