Congrats to Stoner for not giving up on that race. I think today he benefited from a poor exit into final corner by Ben. It looks like Ben went over the paint and spun rear tire and lost drive.

Also, I was looking at the final standings, Sic & Rossi tied. I think it was somehow fitting, as they shared a great relationship in life and now they will be forever tied together this season in classification. Something about numbers that I've alway noticed things like this and look for some weird meaning.

I'm a bit upset the Ducati's didnt have a chance to shine and exit the season on a high note. I really believe we would have seen something special today. ....!

I feel almost happy that this 2011 season (and the 800cc era) is over.

Kudos to Stoner, the new King of MotoGP. On the Honda, he has acquired that supreme confidence that is the sign of the greatest. He is mature now. It will be tough for anybody to take the crown from Casey.

You may like the 800s barry, many others don't.

No-one is saying you have to hate them, but others are also entitled to their opinions. They have always been too liable to crashing when ridden at all close to the edge for my liking, and today's first corner incident, with thankfully little or no injury to the riders concerned, confirmed my view the things are cursed.

I'm not saying that the 800's are not crash prone, but how is today's incident different from something like catalunya 2006? Don't think today's accident could have happened just as easily with 1000's or 990's or 500's.

Finally just saw tribute. Very moving . Rossi with 58 flag was nice touch. Schwantz was visibly crying. Beautiful tribute.

(Dorna attaching an ad at the beginning of the vid is a bit untactful.)

Looked like Dovi caused thast to me. Cut in front of Alvaro causing mis to grab to much brake and lose the front.

I believe that was 100% Alvaro's fault... downloading torrent now to review, but Dovi was well in front Alvaro moved to the left and clipped Dovi's rear tyre. Lucky Dovi wasn't taken out as well as the Ducati Brigade!

shoulda been red flagged...

Why for god's sake?

Btw, I'll be unpopular with my Brit friends for saying this, but Crutchlow battling Karel for rookie of the year, on what was a vastly superior bike doesn't quite impress me. He got Rookie of the Year on points, so congrats, but in performance, a bit empty for me. But Dovi will be a real good indicator of what that Tech3 can produce. If Cal doesn't drastically improve, he will see an exit at the end of his contract. Sorry Brit buddies, but I think you have better racers in Haslam, Rae, and perhaps Bradley (though he hasn't won a M2 race).

100% agree. Karel has been a pleasant surprise and Cal has been a disappointment.

It appears that lighter riders loose traction in the damp sooner (Dani / Casey) to Ben's advantage.

Casey's weight advantage helped at the finish.

Congrats to Josh Hayes for a fine effort.

Got to agree really.

Not only bikes, but also tyres, a very large proportion of the crashes have been down to the tyres, that's the trouble with only one manufacturer, I think they are struggling to keep up with the changing demands of the bikes as they are modified as the season goes on, they don't seem to have brought out any different modifications to compounds, all you hear (9 times out of 10) cold tyres. How often did you hear that when Michelin was involved as well. No competion with tyre manufacturers means one thing, no development!

I think the best the ducs could have hopped for was 5th and 6th today as the heavens didnt open up.

Best race of the season. Glad Nicky ain't broken.

Not much to chose weight-wise between Stoner and Spies. No official records (that I know of) state

what any of these guys currently weigh. Most time people talk about the weight of the riders - it's

pure speculation. Spies strength and favorite end of race environment is all about riding on worn tires

and sliding around a bit.

You're not alone on this. We're all (the sane ones) glad to see the back of the 800s. Good riddance.

Good to know Ayoama is on the way out. I was such a big supporter after his brilliant year on the 250s

and the last two years have been a terrible disappointment.

Tired of seeing Pedrosa injured. Here's hoping he stays healthier on the 1000s.

Here's hoping they all do.

Ahhh..... I'm feelin' the love again.

Gutted for Ben. Looks like he made a minor mistake, and it looks like Casey turned the wick up on the way around turn 13 which gave him the grunt he needed to make the Yamaha look like a moped.

I'm just glad the people in Valencia got a show b/c the conditions looked unpleasant. This race was a decent consolation prize for all of us who've paid attention during the unfortunate 800cc era. Hopefully things will improve next year with 1000cc engines and new B-stone tires, but the 21L fuel tanks have me a bit worried.

Have to say its odds on cal will be going after next season unless he has a stella performance with the new thous as Brad wil be in that team in 2013.

Or should that be regardless of performance next year?

Well doner casey but would have liked to have seen spies take the win, but regardless of dovi and bautistas coming together it was a great race to watch especially the early fight between dovi and dani, who seems to not be able to run the full race at 100% unless out the front.

We can only speculate at what rossi, hayden and de puniet would have done!

Bring on the 1000's

Nice to see al the tributes to marco and the respect shown by all, but nowt more moving than seeing Faust Gresini in tears after Pirro won in moto2!
