Easy on Troy, his consistant 9th-13th place finishes will look amazing after Ukawa finishes the weekend even if it is his home track.

Hey! easy on Troy!

Whatever he does next year hes guna kick .... I think he should go back to WSB and scrap it out with Corser, Troy Vs Troy.

In fact, anybody got any news on either of the Troys for next year?

The commantators on eurosport said this weekend during the wsb, that it's certain that troy will go back to the wsb next year. he will get the place of toseland or lanzi, they said. don't know if we can believe the commantators words, they have been wrong many times!!

i read somewhere were troyboy might go with the new MV team next season in wsbk. i think i read it in cycle news.

I say put him on the factory 999 and watch him fly. Now that would be some REAL competition for Corser.

it's shocking to see how many riders get hurt on dirt bikes. For some reason it doesn't stop them.
Max hurt himself in the off season as well.

One kinda funny story is Roger Hayden (youngest of the Hayden bros) was riding his bicycle, crashed and received some horrible road rash. His brothers were really giving him a hard time about it.

Ukawa has been drafted in to replace Troy.............prob knows the track better anyway I'd say

Remember his wildcard ride at Motegi in 2004 aboard the HRC full factory 2005 spec machine? He didn't fare too well. Ukawa is nothing more than a test rider in this stage in his career. His results this weekend should make Sito Pons happy to have had Bayliss all season.

yea but it won't help him!

Yeah...Ukawa is just a posterboy for the Japanese fans. Not much of a threat to the usual front runners.

A pity, as id love to see a japanese do well in gp, id love to see a japanese take a GP world title, has it ever been done before?

Who is the best japanese in the world at the mo? Haga? Kiyonari? Tamada?

Technically speaking you would have to say Nakano as he is in the premiere class and is in 9th position. Tamada has taken more premiere class wins(hasnt he?) but is in 11th at the mo. Haga and Kiyonari have proved to be lightning quick this year, but thats not on a motogp bike. Is Haga ever guna come back to GP? AND be successfull? i doubt it unfortunately. Kiyonari? he is ultra quick on the 200bhp HRC 'blade but would it work on a 260bhp GP machine? he might have to tame that style of his. The point is he might not have to because by the time he gets to GP they'll prob be running the 'less brutal' 800cc machines. Well i hope, if he does ever come to GP, that he has great success in becoming the most successfull japanese ever. Maybe i should have started a thread about this?...

At the moment I have to say Nakano followed by Tamada, Haga and Kiyo. I think Kiyo will make his way up to MotoGP aboard a Honda. They like to have at least one Japanese rider filling out their bikes and I fear Tamada's time may be running out. Unfortunately I don't think Haga will make a return to GPs, given he never had an ultra competitive bike, although the 2001 Red Bull Yamaha was no dog by any means, he never did a whole lot. I think he will finish out his career in WSB and hopefully grabs himself a title.

Just for the record the greatest Japanese rider of all time was Daijiro Kato.

Oh, to answer your question Ron... No Japanese rider has ever won the 500cc/MotoGP World Çhampionship.

Does anybody think there is any japanese that are racing at the moment that could have the potential to be world champ? or will it take another japanese that is not yet racing to be world champ?

I think it would be very fitting if Haga won a WSB title for Yamaha, poetic justice.

Just think, if it wasnt for that doping thing in 2000, he'd be champ.

I think it's going to have to be somebody coming through the ranks. Despite the fact that when Kiyo made his stint for Telefonica Movistar Honda in 2003 he was extremely young and inexperienced I still think if he was Japan's MotoGP World Champion Hopeful he would have made a bigger splash. He is a talented rider but I don't think he will win the title, someone virtually unkown yet will need to be their hope.
