Will Donington Park loose the MotoGP race because of the track invasion after the race.

If a GP in 2008 has a post race track invasion it automatically loses the race for future years.

Shame the morons that invaded the track today didn't get hurt, they deserved it.

Its so dangerous its incredible, people were coming onto the start/finish straight before the race had finished last year.

Why does our country have to be put in a bad light by these idiots?

Could be back to Silverstone anyway the year after next if current speculation is correct

I dont think Donnington will lose its GP for a while. The first half of the track from Red gate to the S after the dunlop bridge is a tradition for GP and is too good to loose. Plus a 90,000 attendance is going to help the organizers make a decision.

The most idiotic sight was a couple with there BABY IN A PRAM walking across the track and there were still bikes out there.

i dont think a lot of fans consider the danger they pose to the riders and themselves. they get caught up in the emotion and excitement which is understandable.
donington needs better marshalling and security. they should print on the tickets that anybody caught on the track before the gate's are opened to let you on will be prosecuted with trespass and reckless endangerment.use cameras to identify culprits like they do at football matches. donington need to start investing money in this area imo. fans will be fans ,its up to the organizers to ensure safety for competitors and fans.

well i don't think that track invasions of any kind are smart or safe. they need rossi to do another 1 of those please don't invade the track public service announcements he did a few seasons ago. that seemed to work.

So which is it going to be? You seemed to have no problems with Italians celebrating a Rossi victory?

I don't think draconian measures are necessary but the security was ridiculous, those wire mesh fences didn't provide any kind of barriers. The ease with which people were lifting them was silly. It shouldn't be up to the stewards, who are volunteers I assume, to stop the hordes, the fences should be adequate. There was paper talk of Formula 1 going to Donington, I'm no fan of F1 but I can't imagine that they would accept village fete standard fencing for an event so why should motoGP?

We do see track invasions at a lot of the GPs, personally I've only been to Valencia last year and Donington today so my I'm talking mostly from TV pictures, there wasn't any invasion at Valencia. BUT, is it such a bad thing? It's a serious problem when people are on the circuit during the final lap as they were today but I think it can be a nice part of the spectacle. The close relationship between fans and riders is one of the things that sets GP apart from F1. I'm watching todays race on iplayer at the moment and the pictures of Valentino surrounded by fans, while he is still on his bike, when he won the 125 championship are heartwarming.

The problems and danger occur when people get onto the track before the races end as we saw today.

ps. I hope JT hasn't injured himself, I was down by the old hairpin so didn't see his high side.

Track invasions are good, when ALL the racers have finshed, unlike today when craner was packed when a good handful of riders were on their last laps - stupid.

And IMO, it IS upto the marshalls to help prevent invasions - whether they are voluntary or not.

I'm all for track invasions - done many in my time
<
I witnessed first hand the stupidy of the ones in 2005 on the start finsish when people crossed after Rossi had gone passed.

Keep us caged up till racing has finsihed, then unleash us all through the main gates.

Some of the riders appeared to vent their anger by booting it up out of craner - even though that was busy already

BTW - before anyone says it - it wasnt me with the pram!

we are the most watched race of people on the planet in the uk. over 14 million cameras so a couple more will go un noticed, besides they are already there ( tv cameras ). my point was more, if its as much of a problem and danger as they say they should take steps to stop it or shut the .... up. for the organizers to blame the fans is just a cop out. its not rossis job to tell the fans what to do and what not to do. im sure the stoner fans would listen to him.
<

when i was at donny the marshals were encouraging fans to invade the track, even giving peeps a leg over the fence.

you better be not that one Ben!

Perhaps if there had been more marshals it may have helped, I think I only saw a couple, not like other tracks who have them stood in large groups, unless our's were all hiding behind the camera's
<

Is there a minimium number of marshalls required to hold a race?
