Hi everyone

I wondered if anyone could offer some advice, I want to suprise my husband with a trip to Silverstone next year to see the 2012 British motogp, tickets are on sale but I have no idea what to buy for the best, there are so many sites. Has anyone been and have any tips, I also want to book a campsite, of which there appear to be many, so any recommendations would be valuable!

We'll be giving up going to our favourite northern motorbike rally to go as it's always the same weekend so I want it to be brilliant.

Any advice would be really appreciated, am a bit of a novice being a new(ish) but totally hooked motogp fan!

Thanks in advance, Katy

I had the privilege of going to Silverstone this year. The best ticket idea i can think of is offerred as a "roving grandstand" ticket. It allows u to sit on any grandstand on a first come first serve basis. We litterally walked around and sat at will. Best thing ever, i wish they had this idea in the States.

Ask the likes of Wilski, Arabiata1, lil red rocket, chopperman, tom. They would be the ones to ask for advice.

Hi Katy

As Jumks has said above the best value ticket is the roving grandstand, With the exception of a few this will get you into any of the grandstands all round silverstone so the choice of viewing is exceptional. Most are semi covered so if there is any rain there are plenty of places to hide and still watch the racing.

As for the camping, Last year I stayed on the silverstone campsite (and for WSBK this year) and cannot fault the facilities clean and very well maintained brick built toilet and shower blocks

However it is quite a walk from the track to the site and if you walk the track you wont want to walk much further lol. Trust me!

This year I stayed on litchlake campsite, its situated across the road from silverstones main entrance. Facilities again well maintained and reasonably clean although it did depend on the time of day, but these are in portacabins. Plus side 5 maybe 10mins and your at the track.

I would say silverstone is the more lively of the two and you get some other stuff like entertainment and theres the pub (petrol head) all in the A section of the lively area.

I hope that helps and if you have any more Q's drop me a pm. Be happy to help.

Cheers. What a great idea for your husband. Hope to see you there. Have we met before? Are you the young lady we met at the pub last year who was in the packing business?

Hi Katy,

That's what I like...a woman who really knows how to treat a man !

Go for a roving granstand ticket. As Jumkie mentioned you can just jump into almost any stand over the weekend including the new seats at the new international pit straight. Think woodcote is reserved granstand seating but don't bother with that. My recommendation for camping is the site actually at the track by Club corner. Facilities have improved again since last year. Live music, bar......even toilets and showers hehe. Just Message me if you need any help ! See you at the track
