I've said before I think Gobert is the most talented rider I think I've seen, wasted talent at that, but who knows where he could of ended up? Sadly we never saw how far that talent could of gone.

Considering I started watching bike races in late 70's, my personal best are:

1. Spencer
2. Lawson
3. Rayney

Lance Armstrong

Not as good as miguel indurain who had less support from his team.

However, possibly the toughest human being in history; miguel indurain did not have testicular cancer with brain metastases at any stage in his career(nor did he go out with sherryl crow to my knowledge).

the best person i watched not in moto gp is and off subject was john Mc Guinness...... sorry just thought i throw that one in there.

sorry and when he was riding the isle of mann.

Look at this year. I think from all the seasons after 1987, this was one of the strongest. Actually, all of Rainey´s titles were achieved with the strongest set of riders:
1990 500 World Championship final standings

Place Rider
1 Wayne Rainey
2 Kevin Schwantz
3 Michael Doohan
4 Niall Mackenzie
5 Wayne Gardner
6 Juan Garriga
7 Eddie Lawson
8 Jean Ruggia
9 Christian Sarron
10 Sito Pons

That was also a kind of lottery in those years - they all crashed regularly, the one who suffered less injuries inevitably won.

Lance Armstrong

If you count the fact he used drugs then I would probably agree.

i dont understand those of you that put schwantz ahead of rainey on your list... he beat him 3 years in a row and would have won it in 93 had he not had the accident that left him with paralysis

Doohan would of won 92,93 except for some very dodgy doctor in Holland.

cause the question was, 'I would like to know your opinion on who´s the best rider you have seen racing."

Rainey was great...Schwantz was great "to watch"...Mamola was another that comes to mind...

^+1

i think of it like this....

i would like to have titles like rossi BUT i would LOVE to be able to ride like Schwantz...

WC's are a good measure of a riders worth, but they dont tell the whole story. of all the riders i have seen, the schwantz/rainey battles were the ones that kept me on the edge of my seat the most.
rossi is up there..and doohan is in there, but for his dominance, not his entertainment factor...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pinky @ Dec 8 2007, 09:08 PM) <div class='quotemain'>
stoner, coz he whooped rossi's ... silly in 07

i bet your secretly a rossi fan and silently cheer him on

Schwantz had 25 GP victories (1 more than Rainey but I won't hold that against Wayne). McCoy was great "to watch", Schwantz is one of MotoGP's legends.

I think my personal favorite for greatest rider is King Kenny. He ushered in the dirt track era, he developed MotoGP bikes for point and shoot riding, and he brought some incredible racing to MotoGP. Every American who has a title owes him a little piece of it.

I don't think Uccio would like Wayne Gardner... one of my favourite riders from Aus.

Please tell me you did not just put Dani in front of two world champions............ I'm going to pinch myself. If I don't wake up, I'm going to invent a time machine, kidnap Dani shortly after Estoril 2006, and drop him off somewhere during the middle of the Spanish Inquisition.
