In the entire roadracing world, MotoGP, 250cc, 125cc, World Superbike, World Supersport, AMA Superbike, British Superbike, Japanese Superbike etc. Who do you think are the 5 top riders in the world?

1. Valentino Rossi
2. Sete Gibernau
3. Mat Mladin
4. Troy Corser
5. Nicky Hayden

good post m8 and the top four on right but the 5th im a bit confused about,
even thow nicky isnt finished and will probably become a great rider surely max should b 5th. why? hes won 250 races and title, won plenty of premier class races i know he aint gettin any younger but 5th in my book.

ru all forgetting about the road racers from the IoM,northwest 200, ulster gp etc?anybody who can do 200mph on a public road desrves a bit of credit surely?!plus r u talking about best riders alive and riding or every1?who can forget the likes of sheene, dohan, joey dunlop and the like.

ru all forgetting about the road racers in this?any1 man or woman capable of racing along public roads at 200mph deserves a bit of credit surely?!plus r u talking of people still currently riding or all riders rifing, retired or unfortunatly dead?joey dunlop, barry sheene and a few others should be give the thots and consideration for this.

This is absolutely current. I could not have a greatest list without Roberts, Sheene, Dunlop, Rainey, Doohan, Schwantz, or Lawson.

Mike Hailwood... I forget names frequently and then days later I remember so there's another one.

rossi 46 winner thats a fair point but do you c rossi and co goin round the island at race pace2?average speed over a race for the tt is higher than that on a track.in motogp anyway rossi is the undisputed no.1,hayden and hopkins will be there in a few years i think, if o.jacque can repeat his kawa performance regular u have to put him there with the performance gap roberts isn't doing too bad a job either on an improving bike so thats a vague top 5 for u

gsxr lover, i wouldnt want rossi doing speeds on the road like the tt racers cus im afraid hed get hurt but its so so different and each to their own id say,
respect 4 the tt racers always but to b a massive name uve got to b in moto gp nowadays
<

There is so much respect for TT riders because there is very little money in the series compared to MotoGP and the risk is infinite amounts greater so hats off. And the reason Rossi would never race a TT is because A ) there is very little money in it. and B ) the security of the riders is terrible. Rossi has always promoted rider safety and we all know he likes making money, who doesn't? It has nothing to do with passion.

Chris Vermeulen???

Future MotoGP World Champ?

I think so.

I also dont think theres anyone else in WSB at the mo that will go on to MGP and be succesfull.

Good point Rallye, Vermeulen is going to the show within a few years. Although I do believe there is one other rider in the WSB paddock that could make the jump and that is James Toseland. His confidence is down right now due to a big crash in the test season and what appears to be on paper a slower bike. Get some confidence in him and perhaps a new ride, he's just as big of a prospect as Vermeulen.

ooost im english and i cant work toseland out when he should b pushin hes nowhere, cant c him making a impact in moto gp even thow he did great in 1st race at monza, vermuelen is the man to beat...

Vermeulen is the young star coming out of WSB there is no doubting that. For me I see something in Toseland, his riding is a direct effect of what is going on in his head. As an American one name comes into my head with the same problem, Ben Bostrom. When their heads aren't right they don't go fast, but once the confidence comes they are next to unstoppable. Look at Bostrom, 5 wins in a row and 5 total in 2001 and then 2002 testing didn't go well and look what happened to him. I'm just holding out hope for these two, that Ben can return to winning form and the same for Toseland. He's got a lot of racing left in him to turn it all back around.
