And so it begins.... dont think anyone can dispute the fact that Rossi is one of the best if not the best ever. Sure, Stoner is the fastest thing about these days but if he was racing Rossi whilst he was at the peak of his powers, i dont think it'd be quite so clear cut.

That Assen vid was class, hadn't seen it before! The old Assen track was amazing...why oh why did they change it?

A recent Vid before the goons take it down

with Quotes from Riders,ex Riders, Team managers, Commentators etc on the race

Is that from Fastest? cos if so thats one hell of a bopper ..... Did they show the creaming Rossi got from Lorenzo especially in 2010..

nope not from faster

come on, his last corner move and especially outbraking lorenzo in the first turn after he was already ahead are two of the very best moves i've ever seen anybody do.

and they were both fair and clean moves so nothing bad can be said about it in my opinion

I guess it comes down to what you see as good racing. To me that constant swapping of places without a rider who was able to definitively find that extra something is just a dice throw. Lorenzo could just have easily done the same.

Stoners Valencia 2011 showed much more genius. He own most of the race then ran behind for a few laps, as being the guinea pig you don't steer the game. Then when it counted he pulled his move. No risking silly overtakes 3 corners before ( also giving away the momentum and surprise ).

The Lorenzo/Rossi 09 Cat. race was just two guys swapping places without any clear plan or advantage. Luck in my book, not good racing. And to be honest Lorenzo probably learned more from that than Rossi did.

How much time did you waste on starting that

What about Lawson at the Hungaroring,Bayliss at Valencia `06,Sheene starting from the back cus of pinned legs,Micheal Dunlop winning the NW200 days after losing Robert Dunlop and Foggys comeback at Sugo after busting bones in the first leg.

1996 Japan. The only race Doohan seemed to enjoy getting beat

2011 Laguna ........ or 2011 sexingring ..... or the white ducati at PI 09?

2007 Catalunya

Catalunya 2007 has my heart stolen.

Re-watching the race you can see the late braking on the last lap detail he explains after the race. Just awesome.

Too bad it took most people 5 more years to see the light because until not too long ago everyone was pretty sure he achieved the win based on the Duc's speed.

Qatar 2008 i enjoyed a lot.

Catalunya 1991, i was 8 years old and Doohan lost to Rainey after leading the whole race, that sucked but it's my first actuall GP memory.

Laguna Seca 2008 is an honourable mention but that kinda drove me completely mad. so i can't count it.

I haven't been around as long as half you guys so my list may be a bit limited but mine would be:

2005 Jerez GP (Rossi v Gibernau)

Catalunya 2007 (Rossi v Stoner v Pedrosa)

Valencia 2011 (last lap was immense)

If we mention other forms of motorcycle racing it would definately have to be Michael Dunlop winning the NW200 just 2 days after he lost his father Robert Dunlop...watching that race after seeing a short clip about it in TT3D closer to the edge was one of the best things i've seen and of course the BSB 2011 championship decider between Tommy Hill and Hopper. What a race.

What about Laguna 2011!?? ( as goatboy rightfully suggests )

Also awesome, but i would put Aragon 2010 over as a good sensation favourite, i attended to that race and it was Stoner's comeback win...he hasn't stopped winning since.

I didn't want to mention any other Stoner wins to not sound like too much of a fanboy but i guess i just made it worse.

Edit: Barros won 2 races near the end of 2002, i loved those as well. I remember being in Aus for the end of that WC.

Bazz..Cat 09 was a good race gotta take me hat off to Rossi for that last corner pass.

Having said that lets not forget Barcerlona 2007.... now that was a race, anyone who says Stoner cant fight

needs to watch that race..

Its a bit lame cuz im a rossi fan...but...

'04 welkom

'05 jerez

'08 Laguna seca

'09 Catalunya

'10 Motegi

As an aussie, I'm biased toward the wins of my countrymen but these races still had plenty of merit aside from the fact that they were won by Men from the Great Southern Land...

Phillip Island 1989 & 1990 - In both races you had 4 guys dicing for the win practically right up until the end... Although Wayne Gardner ended up winning both!

Austria 1991 - Insane speeds on the old track with the 500's in full cry & with Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz & Lawson having a hell of a battle.

South Africa 2000 - The real Mr Squiggle takes a surprise win whilst spending most of the race with the bike sliding sideways.

Catalunya 2007 - Same comments as everyone else.

Laguna Seca 2011 - Stoner makes overtaking maneuvers that left us all in awe...

Had they put Alex on the RCV sooner then I think he`d have had more than two,he gelled with the bike straight off.
