This just occurred to me. Am I crazy?

Could this have been a big reason Ducati decided to Axe D'Antin?

It seems like it would make sense since KR Sr. kept talking about one of their big options for a comeback would be with some satellite Ducatis.

The only part of this theory that wouldn't make sense is why get rid of D'Antin mid-season instead of let him finish out 2008 and bring in KR for 2009.

If thats what happens, you heard it here first!

Or maybe I'm just crazy.

I think KRSR wants to do more than just manage the team ie just lease some motors and build the rest of the bike with his workshops.

It's a possibility i suppose and would work well for ben spies as the Las Vegas sponsors would probably want an American rider. However Ducati are rumoured to want to bring the satellite team closer to home as a junior squad, which sounds the opposite of KRSR's intentions.

Intentions nothing - The USA is the worlds biggest market - even in meltdown the country holds 25% of the global GDP. It would be excellent product placement in a big market…

An American team on Ducati (satellite)? As long as hamburglar and the other mcnugget aren't riding them (KRJ and his FLK brother)

Absolutely he wants to build his own bikes, but at this time he probably doesn't have the funding.

There is a lot of value in his name though, he'd be a fool not to get back into the sport and use his name to generate revenues for himself and his team.

I'd suggested this in another thread. It seems like a sensible option, provided he could get enough freedom to do things.

agreed

Wow ..... I'm starting to believe all this .... ie:

Hayden with Casey

KJR gets Duc engines

and now the AMA thing ...

before I thought just getting Hayden is a bit of a dig for the US market but not very convincing .... but with all that other stuff as possible follow ups as well ...... could be looking like a good marketting strategy for them indeed.
