Sounds like Ben Spies ( The Texas Terror as they called him in the COTA official program hahaha....Texas Terrible is more fitting ) is out for the Jerez race. Pirro to stand in

Eh, he had some serious surgery to fix that should, it's not a big surprise that he hasn't recovered enough to be 100% on a 1000cc motoGP bike...

Shoulder injuries are no joke. Once you tear one up you are lucky if it is ever the same again. I wish him the best.

I think he should've just returned to WSBK instead of trying to hang on in MotoGP.  I know a lot of you are like "...., this is the pinnacle of motorcycling racing, why would you want to leave?", but I'd say riding for a top team in WSBK beats riding the Ducrapi in MotoGP any day of the week.

I separated my shoulder blade from my rib cage in a bike off... it took more than a year before it was back working and that one doesn't have the same range of movement as the other, despite it being my 'dominant' arm.

Amazingly complicated piece of engineering, the shoulder.

be happy if they fixed it so that all you lack is a little movement.

had to have multiple surgeries cause my doc would rather restrict the strength than the mobility...which ends in tears next time you crash let me tell you

I wrenched my shoulder just a little last year and it has made a massive difference to movement and still hurts a lot,a serious injury must be a nightmare.

No surgery, no doctors. Put myself in a body stocking and my arm in a sling till I was able to move. Hurt like buggery.

Fixed it - <span style="font-size:14px;once it is torn up it is really never the same again.

What if Pirro gets on the bike and is way faster? Is there a chance they'd just say Spies injury hasn't healed and leave Pirro on it for the rest of the season?  I know they've done that in F1, (Villeneuve was injured and they put Kubica in his car, that was effectively the end of JV's career) I just wondered if it could/was likely to happen here too.

it would surely cost them.spies will get his salary anyways and i'm sure there would have to be a payment to keep ben from suing duc. his mom surely has a degree or two in law

so even if pirro is super fast its highly unlikely
