You used the word Malleable and can spell it apparently.
You must be a lawyer.

MichaelM - I like the guy and in hindsight (the wisdom of fools) we can see that he wasn't the rider for the bike,

Just trying to get a bit of discussion started on the silly season, not start WWIII.

These discussion posts can become rather ad hominem and adversarial
No problem. We are both obviously happy they signed casey for whatever reason. I think he also took a punt as we aussies say; if the ducati had been no good or he had not melded with it (did someone mention blacksmiths?) I don't think his further prospects in motogp would have been strong.

I said last year around this time that there was a simple acid test for figuring out how Melandri got the job.

If he got the job because of his nationality 1 of 2 things would happen.

1. Melandri would be an unbelievable talent and would pilot the bike to a world championship, while Stoner was enraged by Ducati playing favorites.

or

2. Melandri would become quickly angered and disenfranchised by Ducati not playing favorites. He would ride poorly and would leave early and unceremoniously. I did think he'd make it an entire season though.
<

Obviously, I didn't predict either of these events, but it was obvious that a nationalistic marriage between Melandri and Ducati would have to end this way. It did. As far as I'm concerned his nationality was far more important to Ducati than his performance at Honda.

What does it detect when Pinky's around?

Alot of top seats filled. Have to see how the 250cc championship turns before judging the riders.

Not sure were DePuniet, Elias, Gunitoli, de Angelis, Capirossi, or West are going to race. I think West will be back in WSS/WSBK. Capirossi is going to reitre (finally), DePuniet will crash out. Elias should be on the other factory Honda with Pedro. The others haven't showed enough to warrant a ride.

That means you predict Stoner looses his title this year...

I think Rossi will take the title. Numbers were based on what they usually run with. Pedro had #26.

So he finishes out of the top 2 then

I heard/read somewhere (Autosport/Crash?) that Suzuki was pretty close to re-signing Loris for 2009. However that was before he trashed himself proper at Assen.
I think if Guintoli keeps improving on that Ducati he may find himself with a new contract for 2009 as well.

I think of the current 250s lot nobody is good enough to jump to the big boys yet. That should happen in 2010 imo.

Among the options he apparently has are a move to the Tech 3 Yamaha squad and returning to world superbikes to take the Ducati seat of series leader and retiring compatriot Troy Bayliss.

Tech3 mentioned again....

Being a newbie I expect Bikegirl to rip me a new one...

Toseland already has his contract buttoned up for next year and as far as everyone else knows Edwards '09 contract with Tech3 is like 99% finalized. "Just a few minor details" is mentioned.

Lookin like it might be WSB for him
