Occasionally we see riders move from WSBK into the GP paddock with reasonable success. REcent examples are obviously Vermuelen and and Toseland. Looking at the current entry lists, who do you think will be next to make the jump?

Max N would be the most obvious rising talent in the series but he just signed a 2 year contract to stay with Alstare Suzuki.

Perhaps we won't see anyone moving over for a while, there are a few people in WSS who have potential, but they will probably need at least a year on superbike before they prove themselfes.

What do you reckon??

I think Kiyonari and Rea is the best chances in the near future. If Kiyo can win the 09 title he'll be of a similar age to when JT won, and that's the best time to move. Rea is still very young and is moving up next year, if he does aswell as he did in BSB on a WSB, then he's a contender.

I can't help but think 27 or over is cutting it far too fine for a grand prix move these days.

I optimistically agree with you about Kiyo, but Rea's contract lasts the same length as Max N's, which means waiting a few more years. Besides that it lookes fairly bleak.

Sofuoglu?
Jonsey?
Lascorz?

I think the two most promising riders in WSBK are definatly Max N and Kiyo. Its a shame that Max has 2 more years left on his contract but I think if he performs in them two years as a championship contender or even a championship winner he will be in MotoGP when his contract is up.

Ever since Kiyo joined HM Plant Honda in 2004 I always he was being groomed by Honda for MotoGP seeing as he attracted heabvy HRC backing into the HM Plant team and was a commited Honda Suzuka 8 hour rider but now i'm thinking that might not be case. Still I think if Kiyo can rack up a few wins this season in WSBK along with the 8 hour, and then he claims the 09 WSBK title I think he will be heading to MotoGP with a Honda sattalite team.

Its hard to say whether anyone else from WSBK will ever be in GP as most of the top guys are 30+ such as Bayliss, Biaggi, Haga, Corser, Kagayama, Checa etc but with promising WSS riders emerging like Lascourz, Jones, Rea etc we could still see some Superbike/Supersport boys in MotoGP in the coming seasons.

Except for Bayliss who got Factory ride when he moved to GP in 2003, there was no opportunity given to SBK riders to ride Top factory GP bikes i.e. Honda, Yamaha and the Duke.. J.T was given second class Yamaha bike (Tech-3) and we expect him to win?.Forget about Vermin with Suzuki and Kawak..Even regular GP dudes if given the opportunities do not want to ride those bikes bcoz they aren't winning bikes..

Is it DORNA or the teams which make decision? HRC should give Vermin and JT the factory bikes and then we can see if these WSBK dudes can fight with 250 kidss.

I see WSBK is more fun to watch this year and even last year where there are closed fight...

Interesting to see Lascorz mentioned, i don't know how talented he is tbh. He seems to have jsut been consistent this year without having done anything special, and have his title lead due to bad luck for Rea, Pitt, etc..

I hope Rea and Jonesy both make the step up, both are hungry talented young Brits.

The most likely for me would be Max. N but as you say, he's got a couple of years left on his contract.

WSB is very entertaining this year, it looks like bayliss has nailed the championship but there are 6 or 7 riders battling for 2nd, and the racing has been very very close in every race. Especially now that my fave's in it ^.^

I want to see the championship battle contiues till maybe 2nd last round

. If Bayliss nails it earlier, we won't see the like of Haga, Checa, Max fighting at the front... :

Kiyo is absolutely setting the WSBK paddock on fire ... not!

A bit unfair to judge someone on one season, especially seeing as its his debut season.

Where was Neukirchner in 05, 06 and 07? Getting a couple of points here and there and maybe the odd top five. Thats what Kiyo is doing this season and people are now saying that Neukirchner deserves to move up to MotoGP.

So don't make rash judgements.

Hayden got the Repsol seat straight away in '03. And teams make such decisions.

But Nuekirchner was on a private Honda wasn't he? And I haven't seen Kiyo's name near the top 10 much (if at all) this season with Ten Kate. I was well impressed with him in BSB but am not sure he has it.

well lets just be honest here... shall we. there are only 3 guys right now with any chance at all of getting a ride in gp in say the next 2 seasons. 1. kiyo. buy virtue of him being at the top of the japanese rider pile. he needs to start impressing tho. 2. max neukirchner. getting good results & motogp need a german. 1 who won't "quit" like the last 1. 3. keenan sofuoglu. he's had it tough this year with his brother but when he comes around he should do well. well enough for gp's? don't know but getting a turk on the grid would be a good thing.... especially if it gets istanbul park back on the schedual.
