The Team KR project is extremely under funded and is being assisted financially by Dorna to keep the team's only rider, Shakey Byrne, on the track as the only Brit to make sure the "Beeb" and it's viewers are happy. We also know that it took the Team KR outfit quite a few years to develop their two stroke triple before it was a formidable weapon. When the switch came to four strokes Team KR was caught out and could not develop the engine fast enough and had to switch from in house machinery to a collaboration with KTM after a season and a half of misery. The KTM V4 is coming along nicely, it's hard to tell how long it would have taken to catch up to the Japanese factories the way that the triple did before the "Diesels" ruled had the rules stayed the same. Now that MotoGP is switching to 800cc for 2007 do you think Team KR KTM will have a competitive 800cc prototype out of the box? If not, how long will it be before they're competitive? Is it possible that we may not see Team KR participate with the new rules? For me it's so clouded, there is so little money in the team and a chunk of their budget comes from Dorna to keep Shakey in the series. What happens when Shakey moves on to a better team in MotoGP or goes back to Superbikes? What happens when KTM develops their own package? From the looks of it Team KR is in trouble unless a title sponsor is found as soon as possible.
