I'm against this stuff. I have a site and know how it feels. There is a picture on my site of me in Calcutta sitting with workmen,
inspecting their work. The point of the photo is to show that I personally go to India to hand-pick each instrument. Some
dirtbags on an Indian website appropriated the photo and and captioned it to say that I was one of their employees
inspecting instruments to be purchased for their business (as if those fuckers could afford to hire a white guy ^_^) and
another Indian site completely copied my homepage, logo and all; the only thing they didn't steal was business name.
....... lazy opportunistic parasites is what they are.
I love ....... lazy opportunistic parasitism... it's where I get my best ideas
Seriously though, my daughter runs a couple of e-businesses that I created and manage, as well as building a half-dozen for her mates, etc. It's good pin-money for the MILFs without them having to resort to webcams and lubricants, so I am right behind them (if you know what I mean). I spend a lot of time scouring the web for new products, new suppliers and new ways of doing business and a lot of that involves 'ripping off' other people's ideas.
But... just finding the idea isn't enough, there's a lot of hard work goes into getting from a germ of an idea to a product for sale - like right now I am sourcing a new product, trying to come up with a name, a logo, a size, shape, consistency and 'look' that will appeal to 20,000 potential customers. Originally I found the product on a US baby products website but have had to do a bunch of research between seeing that product and having something saleable in NZ and Oz. Then there is a new website to build, a new company structure to set up, accounts, supplies, printers, graphic designers, etc. etc.
All to save a few bucks.
I'm with Krop - content scraping is the lowest form of marketing - google clicks has a lot to answer for (and I am going to embed my code into every website I build from now on - from little acorns and all that...)
