Does anyone remember the end of season (500cc GP) race or races that were held at Sugo in the late 80`s .You were allowed to ride a 2 or 4 stroke and most of the factory riders plus the local hot riders entered it.I`m hoping to get a lead on this to help source some footage on it.All help appreciated.Thank you.

I found this website, http://www.sportsland-sugo.co.jp/english/profile/index.html have you seen that already? it says at 1983:Kenny Roberts competed in his last race at the 11th TBC Big Road Race.
Eddie Ray Lawson made his first visit to Japan.
All Japan Championship GP500 Champion, Tadahiko Taira also raced in the race.

and at 1984: World GP Champion Eddie Ray Lawson and a young Wayne Rainey raced in the 12th TBC Big Road Race. and they never raced on 4 strokes.

they do say something about the TT formula world championship. those were 4 strokes which were also used on the isle of man.

my dad said it was round 1976?? he says they never raced with 4strokes in the 80ties in the gp. he has seen the honda nr500 in the nurburgring himself. and he said something about Takazumi katayama riding on the honda nr500. the nr500 had a 4 cilinder engine with oval pistons and 32 valves. some people said NR stood for 'Never Ready'

lol

my dad only remember the time that phil read raced on an MV agusta in 1974 or so, and they did raced with 4 strokes and 2 strokes in one class back then. he thinks thats the only time 2 and 4 strokes raced together, besides the rossi/barros etc situation in 2000.

he doesnt remember local riders entering it tho.

.I`ve found a site with a little circuit history that I`ve got to delve into and might even be able to add something to your dads knowledge of things, though he sure knows his history of racing. Thanks again .

I`ve found some results,it was called `The Sugo Big Road Race` and was held after the 500cc season was over.It was an on and off affair over the years which the major teams would sometimes enter . As well as that Honda specifically would enter a rider into the All Japan Road Race Series and a certain Mick Doohan took 3rd place in 1998 with Tady Okada winning. Its all on the official Sugo site and I`ll do some more delving see what else I can find.....well chuffed at finding this.
